Cream 1 C butter, softened with one 3 oz  block of cream cheese, softened. Slowly add 1 C sugar. Beat until fluffy. Beat in 1 egg yolk and add 1 t vanilla and 2-1/2 C flour. Mix well. Chill the dough several hours. Shape into 1 inch balls and place on greased cookie sheets. Press a candied cherry gently onto the center of each. Bake @ 325 for 12-15 minutes.
