Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) Commissioner, Dave Frederickson requests public feedback to develop a proposal for the future of Minnesota’s urban agriculture. There are two ways to submit opinions: either complete a brief 14 question survey, or attend one of three upcoming public meetings in the Twin Cities. The results will be used by Commissioner Frederickson to draft a proposal for state lawmakers to figure out the best way to promote urban agriculture. For this proposal, the current definition of urban agriculture in Minnesota is the production of plants or animals on either public or private land within city limits. Public feedback will help the MDA identify barriers and discover new ways to support the practice better in the future. Please fill out the short survey online at http://bit.ly/mnurbanag. Print surveys will also be available in English, Hmong, and Spanish. The survey deadline is December 31, 2015. Contact Callie Recknagel with questions: 651-201-6260, callie.recknagel@state.mn.us.
