The Morrison County Attorney’s Office has filed charges regarding a shooting in Randall on Tuesday, May 26th. 25-year old Kyle St. Martin–Smith Randall was charged with Attempted First Degree Murder, First Degree Assault and Second Degree Assault. The Complaint alleges that St. Martin–Smith invited Ryan Deters to his residence in Randall. Once inside, St. Martin Smith attacked him.  The Complaint states, “Deters stated that he was then hit in the head with a wooden object that he thought to be a bat. St. Martin-Smith yelled at Deters that it was time for him to die. Deters stated that he was struck numerous times in the face and he tried to protect himself with his arms and he was struck in the forearms.  Deters stated that he went down the hallway of the trailer house in an attempt to get away from St. Martin and St. Martin-Smith followed him, striking him with the wooden object. Deters stated that he went into the bedroom of the trailer house. At that point, St. Martin-Smith pulled out a handgun and again told Deters it was his day to die. Deters stated that he put up his left arm and he heard one or two shots and he felt a burning sensation in his arm.”  Deters was taken by ambulance to a hospital and was treated for a gunshot wound. On Friday morning, St. Martin-Smith appeared in front of Morrison County District Court Judge Conrad Freeberg. Judge Freeberg set unconditional bail in the amount of $500,000 and conditional bail in the amount of $200,000. Condition of release included no contact with the victim or the victim’s mother.  Deters remains hospitalized.
