The city of Brainerd announced Monday night that they have approved Jim Thoreen as their next City Administrator. Thoreen had been the county coordinator in Pope County. He will replace Patrick Wussow who departs June 30th. Thoreen has over 40 years of working with county, state and local governments and media relations for years in radio. The city also announced Monday that the number of candidates for Fire Chief in Brainerd is down to three. The council will interview the candidates Timothy Holmes, Jason Caughey and David Schliek again before making their selection June 15th. Another note from Monday is the Brainerd School Board appointed Bob Gross as their interim superintendent for 2015-2016. Gross will serve the next year while the school looks for a permanent superintendent after Klint Willert announced earlier this spring he is leaving the school for a superintendent position in Brookings, South Dakota.
