A 25-year-old from Brainerd was sentenced to 28 months in prison last week for his role in beating up a man with a hammer multiple times at an apartment on the 80 block of Juniper Street in Brainerd. Cody Benedict was charged with felony kidnapping, assault and reckless disregard risk along with stalking. Benedict entered a plea agreement last Thursday and was sentenced to the Correctional Facility in St. Cloud. 23-year-old Elliot Mongan of Pequot Lakes was charged with kidnapping and stalking and sentenced to one year in the Crow Wing County Jail for his role in the attack in 2014.
