--Free testing of well water for nitrates will be held today May 22 through Friday, May 26th, Testing will be conducted at the Belle Prairie Room (Main Level) of the Morrison County Government Center, 213 1st Avenue SE in Little Falls. Hours of testing are from 9am-4pm daily. Water samples may be brought in using a clean zip-lock bag or plastic/glass container. Collect one cup of water no more than 24 hours before testing. The process usually takes less than five minutes and results will be given directly to the landowner during their visit. The Minnesota Department of Health recommends having wells checked for nitrates a least every two years for nitrates and every year for bacteria. The nitrate testing equipment is provided by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture using funding from the Clean Water Land and Legacy Amendment. Again, the clinic will be held at the Morrison County Government Center and this service is free. For more information call (320) 631-3553.
--Work is resuming on Highway 23 between Foley and Milaca next week. The second, and final year of work, will require some lane closures and a short detour just east of Foley. Starting Monday and lasting through July, Highway 23 will close to through traffic between Broadway Avenue South in Foley and Benton County Road 6 in Ronneby. The detour will be via Broadway South, to Benton County Road 4 and Benton County Road 6 through July. The Minnesota Department of Transportation says periodic lane closures will then be in place from Foley to Milaca as crews put the finishing touches on the project. The $18-million project started last summer to improve 13.5 miles of Highway 23. It will be completed by the start of August.
--The Recovery Community Network received a $300,000 grant from the state of Minnesota to assist those with substance use issues with reentry into the central Minnesota community, according to a news release. "We are thrilled to have been chosen as one of seven pilot Recovery Community Organizations for this effort." John Donovan, board chair of the network, said in the release. “These funds will allow us to work with justice-involved individuals to reduce readmission rates and to increase recovery resiliency and recovery capital.” The release shared that the grant will be administered over a three-year period. The Recovery Community Network is a nonprofit agency in St. Cloud founded in 2014. It provides free services to those living with or seeking help with a substance use disorder. Services include peer-to-peer recovery coaching, education and advocacy. The Recovery Community Network office is in the Midtown Mall Office Building. John Donovan is a former U.S. Army Veteran and served with eh National Guard at Camp Ripley for many years in public affairs. and National Guard member and at one time served at Camp Ripley north of Little Falls making appearances on KLTF.
--The Royalton Lions Club named their Royalton HS Athletes of the Year at the Athletic celebration at the High School on Wednesday night. The Boys Athlete of the year for 2023 is Connor Carlson and the Girls Athlete of the Year for 2023 is Mya Yourzeck who are both are Seniors at Royalton High School.
--The 17th Annual Little Falls Golf Course Extravaganza will be held on Saturday, June 10th registration at 11:30 and shotgun start at 12:30pm with dinner following the event. --Congratulations to eight high school senior students from Little Falls Community High School who signed their letter of intent to attend a post secondary institution with a focus on becoming a future educator. These students intend to help guide future generations to academic and career success. This third annual event is sponsored by Education Minnesota of Little Falls. The 8 students are Laci Maleski, Jayda Alholm, Shayann Storlie, Beau Thoma, Mary Wolbeck, Avery Zimmerman, Maddie Doble and Emmi Hubner.
--A three vehicle accident Friday night by Rockville in Stearns County sent multiple people to the hospital. Three vehicle collided at the intersection of Highway 23 and County Road 82 around 10:45pm. A couple from Belgrade in their 60s were treated in St. Cloud for non life threatening injuries. Four others, three from St. Cloud in one of the vehicles and a passenger in the third vehicle from Rockville were all taken to the hospital with reported minor injuries. The accident was still being investigating by the State Patrol.
--Another accident happened on Highway 23 near Rockville just 30 minutes prior around 10pm when 40-year-old Noor Farah of St. Cloud and 45-year-old Jibril Kadero collided with each other in the southbound lane. Kadero and his passenger were treated for their injuries at an area hospital but ruled not serious in nature.

--Pro Football Hall of Famer turned actor and activist Jim Brown has died. Brown was league MVP in 1965 then appeared in over 30 films when leaving the NFL. Jim Brown died Friday at age 87.

WNBA= Chicago beat Lynx in opener Friday, Lynx at Atlanta Tues.
HORSE= National Treasure wins the Preakness meaning no triple crown winner this year as Mage finished 3rd. Trainer Bob Baffert wins the race but earlier had to put down one his horses after an injury.
HS SB= Royalton at Pierz today at 4:30pm to open softball playoffs, hear the action live on AM960 KLTF. Winner moves on to Tuesday and will play in Waite Park at 5pm, if they lose play again at 7pm.
HS SB= Detroit Lakes at Little Falls to open playoffs on Tuesday scheduled at 4:30pm on Q92 WYRQ. The winner and loser would both move on to Thursday in the playoffs.
