Brainerd police were involved in a pursuit Monday night after a theft occurred at the Wal-Mart store in Baxter. Police observed the vehicle in question and followed it through Brainerd. When police attempted to stop the vehicle it sped up crashed into a light pole on Washington Street. It continued at a high rate of speed onto Highway 210 and then onto County Road 12 where officers lost sight of it. The vehicle was then later spotted near Aitkin where tire deflation devices were used to puncture the tires and the vehicle ran off the roadway near the 40 Club Inn in Aitkin. The occupants fled on foot and a helicopter was brought in to help find them. 33-year-old Bradly Leritz of McGregor and 24-year-old Nicole Tezlaff of Stanley, Wisconsin were found and arrested. Leritz faces a number of charges in Crow Wing County while Tezlaff faces fleeing charges by authorities.
