A man seen fighting alongside a Wright County highway with someone who was later reported missing has pleaded guilty to felony unintentional murder. Robert Nuttall entered the plea Friday morning in Wright County Court in Buffalo, admitting his role in the death of Christopher Rossing. Nuttall told the court that he left a bar in downtown Howard Lake early on August 23, 2014 after arguing with Rossing over a woman. Nuttall claims he began walking down Highway 12, Rossing followed and the two began arguing again. Nuttall says he hit Rossing, injuring him badly he insisted that he only wanted to harm Rossing, and not kill him. Nuttall told the courtroom he put Rossing in his truck to conceal the unintentional murder. Under the plea deal all counts of aggravated assault have been dropped against Nuttall. Wright County Attorney Tom Kelly held on to the murder charges, saying that would allow prosecutors to request an upward departure when Nuttall is sentenced October 20. The deal calls for a sentence of 22 years in prison.
