Both men discovered in the Mississippi river in the past week appear to have drowned according to preliminary autopsy results. On Sunday members of the Morrison and Stearns County Water Rescue Teams recovered the body of 34 year old William Lee Blake of Little Falls from the Mississippi River. Blake’s body was located near the Burlington Northern Railroad Bridge on the north side of Little Falls. On Wednesday morning the body of 36-year old Michael Robert Arndt was recovered from the Mississippi River by the Crow Wing and Morrison County Dive Teams. Arndt’s body was also located near the Burlington Northern Railroad Bridge on the north side of Little Falls. William Lee Blake and Michael Robert Arndt were transferred to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office. At this time it appears there is no sign of homicidal violence. Initial autopsy results indicate that both victims succumbed to fresh water drowning. There is no threat to the community at this time. The public is safe. The investigation is ongoing and will be pending final autopsy results. At this time the deaths of both William Blake and Michael Arndt are being investigated by the Little Falls Police Department, Morrison County Sheriff’s Office, Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, and Central Minnesota Violent Offender Task Force.
