The Albany Area School referendum received enough votes to pass Tuesday. Superintendent Greg Johnson stated late Tuesday that there were 1,942 yes votes and 459 no votes. Absentee ballots had yet to be counted but with the high margin of yes votes the outcome was likely not to change. Johnson did say that voter turnout was higher than expected with an estimated 2,400 voters. The $33 million from the referendum, along with $6.2 million in donations from local businesses will go to facility additions, renovations, safety and security upgrades, improvements to technology and other needs.
