An Avon man is facing charges after police discovered 48 grams of methamphetamine in his vehicle on Monday. St. Cloud police officers pulled over 28-year old James Vandevender of Avon. Officers initiated the stop because the register owner had an active felony warrant. During the stop, the officers saw two large baggies containing what they believed to be methamphetamine. While searching the car, the officers found an additional amount of what they believed to be methamphetamine, along with pipes they believed were used for smoking the drug. The drug later tested positive for meth. During the search, the officers found a total of 48 grams. Vandevender has a prior fifth-degree controlled substance drug conviction. Vandevender is facing a first degree controlled substance crime and is being held in Stearns County Jail on a $200,000 bail.[/fusion_text][/fullwidth]
