The Benton County Sheriff’s Office stopped and arrested 22-year old Dominique Chaney of St. Cloud for possession of marijuana with intent to sell. At about 2:00am Tuesday a Benton County deputy was on routine patrol and observed a vehicle drive to a T intersection and remain stationary there for an extended period of time. The deputy followed the vehicle to investigate it and noted several equipment violations on the vehicle. The deputy stopped this vehicle and made contact with Dominique Chaney. Upon making contact with Chaney, the deputy detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and noted what appeared to be marijuana flakes on Chaney’s shirt. Chaney admitted to smoking marijuana in the vehicle. The deputy conducted a search of  Chaney’s vehicle. The deputy located a small amount of marijuana in the center console along with a gram scale. The deputy also found two potato chip cans which had false bottoms. Inside these cans were 38 packages of marijuana, all of which were packaged into amounts commonly sold to users of controlled substances. A search of Chaney’s person revealed that he had over $1,500 in cash in his possession. Chaney was placed under arrest for possession of marijuana with the intent to sell and other charges.
