A fire outside a Brainerd auto body business Sunday was extinguished before it had a chance to spread to the interior. Ten Brainerd firefighters were dispatched to River Road Auto Body shortly before 2:15pm Sunday, located just north of the railroad tracks near the Brainerd Fire Hall. A pile of trash outside the building was burning, and had spread to an electrical pole by the time the fire department received the call. The fire was contained to the exterior and caused no damage to customers’ vehicles inside the shop. The interior did sustain some water damage due to water entering through a window broken by the heat of the fire. A passerby noticed the flames and tried to put them out before realizing the fire was out of control. The cause of the fire is unknown.
