One person is in custody after a nine-hour standoff at a St. Cloud northside residence. 23-year old Bryan Robert Walks was taken to Stearns County Jail where he was being held Tuesday on possible charges of second-degree felony assault with a knife. Police surrounded Walk’s apartment on the 200 block of 10th Avenue North northwest of the St. Cloud Post Office after a reported assault at 12:15am Tuesday. Officers responded to a report of an assault with a knife on a 23-year-old female victim. The victim received injuries that were not considered life-threatening and was able to escape to a friend’s house when the police were contacted. No gunshots were fired by either police or the suspect during the standoff. Loud bangs could be heard from the deployment of non-lethal distraction devices and irritant gas around 8:45am Tuesday.
