The Morrison and Cass County Board of Commissioners along with representatives of the City of Pillager, Rosing Township and project staff came together last Monday to officially reopen the bridge over the Crow Wing River at Pillager. The project became a priority for both counties when annual inspections detected differential movement of the bridge abutments. The project consisted of tying the existing abutments into the bridge beams and deck so that they act as one unit. Because the bridge had to be closed to conduct the abutment work the timing was right to rehabilitate the deteriorating deck and provide improved erosion protection of the river bank slopes under the structure. The general contractor for the project was PCI Roads LLC of St. Michael. The project was completed in 21 working days at a cost of $405,540.
