Around 10:20pm Saturday deputies responded to a two boat collission with injuries on Rush Lake. A 21’ runabout with five people on board driven by 49-year old John Hanning of San Clemente CA, struck the right side of a 21’ wakeboard boat with 5 people on board driven by 19-year old Nicholas Ward of Elk River. Hanning and his daughter 14-year old Dalaney were taken to Essentia St Joseph’s. John Hanning was treated for a possible heel fracture, Dalaney Hanning was transported by Air Care from the hospital to North Memorial in Robinsdale where she was treated for a concussion and minor cuts. Nicholas Ward was taken to the hospital, where he was treated for minor cuts. The cause of the accident is still under investigation, but it appears that driver inattention may have contributed to the accident. Formal charges are pending.
