The potential effect of the November 3rd St. Cloud school district referendum gained a little more clarity Tuesday with an estimate of tax increases, should a $167 million effort pass to build a new Technical High School and renovate Apollo. The owner of a $150,000 home could expect to pay an additional $218.35 a year. The current annual school tax for a $150,000 home — prior to the referendum — is $520.81. That compares with $741.34 in Sauk Rapids-Rice, $686.29 in Sartell-St. Stephen and $627.13 in Rocori. A $100,000 home would be increased by $117.58 in new taxes. By late August, the district will unveil a calculator on its website at www.isd742.org where individual property owners can calculate their tax impact.
