Emergency responders are draining Quarry 8 at the Quarry Park and Nature Reserve Tuesday as they search for a missing man. Authorities believe the man, 30-year old Phillip Miller of St. Cloud took his own life, and his body is in the quarry. Crews are using a commercial pump to lower the water level of the 100-foot deep quarry to around 50 feet. At its current depth and with the amount of debris in the water, divers can not stay underwater for much longer than 10 minutes. The water will be pumped to flow into a low area, and the quarry will refill over time with ground water, rain and snow.
