MN Pultry Testing Lab expands

Wednesday, October 12th 2016

The Minnesota Poultry Testing Lab expansion is a direct response to last year’s avian influenza outbreak. In 2015, high-path AI claimed more than five million turkeys and four million egg-laying chickens in Minnesota alone. The state legislature funded the $8.5 million dollar investment that triples the size of the laboratory and increases testing capacity for avian flu and other poultry diseases. The Minnesota Poultry Testing Lab is a joint partnership between the University of Minnesota, which owns the building, and the Minnesota Board of Animal Health.
