Rain Interupts Harvest Progress in Minnesota

Tuesday, November 1st 2016

The USDA says rain caused challenges for Minnesota farmers last week. The latest crop progress report shows fewer than four days suitable for fieldwork statewide, as corn harvest remains behind the five year average at 75 percent complete as of Sunday. Tillage and other activities were limited by wet conditions, with some farmers noting that harvest may not be finished until the ground freezes. Just three percent of Minnesota’s soybean acreage remains unharvested, while 95 percent of the sugar beet and 80 percent of the sunflower harvest has been completed.
