Governor Mark Dayton is considering a special session in August to provide emergency disaster relief to Mille Lacs Lake resorters and other area businesses if the walleye season is closed. The governor has been working over the past week to design a $20 million financial aid package, which could consist of zero interest loans, property tax abatements, and additional tourism advertising and promotion funds. The walleye season on Mille Lacs may close as early as Monday.
