Human remains have been found in a farm field in central Minnesota not far from where they have been looking for a missing teen. The Douglas County Sheriff’s office says the remains of a woman in her late teens or early 20s were found Monday afternoon by a farmer who was harvesting a field in Orange Township, just east of Alexandria. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office posted on facebook they have reason to believe that they have located Laura Ann Schwendemann, however they are awaiting further information from the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office. Although they may have entered into the next phase of the investigation, the case remains open and active. Again, they do not have reason to believe that the general public is in danger and their focus is now why and how this young woman died. They are aggressively pursuing the leads that they have, and believe that they are making active progress in solving this case. The sheriffs office will share further information as the investigation evolves. The Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct testing to determine the woman’s official identity and cause of death. Authorities say Schwendemann was with a man she knew, but have not elaborated if he is a person of interest or he played in her disappearance.
