An Idaho man wanted for kidnapping was arrested Sunday night at a campground in Stearns County. 28-year old Joshua Michael Oquendo, of Pocatello, Idaho, had an active arrest warrant for second-degree kidnapping and child custody interference. The Idaho State Journal reported last week that Oquendo had failed to show up for a custody hearing with his 1-year-old daughter, Oaklie Rose. A caller told officers around 9:00pm Sunday about suspicious activity at Birch Lakes State Campground in Melrose Township. The caller said a group of campers had covered up their vehicles with tarps and displayed Idaho license plates. Deputies responded. Officers found Oquendo, his daughter and four other people at the campsite. Oquendo was arrested on his warrant, and the other four were arrested on possible charges of aiding an offender.
