When the Little Falls School District learned it would not be able to renew its lease for the Continuing Education Center (CEC) after the 2016 school year, a new home was needed. The district rented space from the Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls for over 20 years. The Little Falls School Board approved leasing a building from Earl LeMieur, at $53,742 per year, beginning last week. The district leased the property owned by the Franciscan Sisters for about $59,000 per year. The new building is located next to the former Community Services building, at 16597 Haven Road. The Community Services offices have been moved to a location in the Little Falls Community High School, so the former Community Services building will also be used for CEC. The lease agreement is for two years and can be amended to a purchase agreement. Lease payments made count toward the purchase price, if the district decides to purchase the property. The building is expected to be completed and ready for students Sept. 14.
