The man who shot a St. Cloud bar employee after he was kicked out of the bar in late March 2014 pleaded guilty Wednesday to attempted second-degree murder. 25-year old Cordney Terell Holmes will face no more than 10 years, 10 ½ months in prison when he is sentenced October 15th according to the terms of a plea agreement. His attorney plans to ask for a sentence less than what’s called for in State Sentencing Guidelines. Holmes admitted that he was trying to kill James Alan Gackstetter when he fired five shots at him outside a downtown St. Cloud bar March 29th, 2014. Gackstetter was hit three times, twice in the stomach and once in a finger. He survived. A charge of first-degree assault will be dismissed under the terms of the plea agreement.
