The USDA has accepted the Minnesota Department of Agriculture’s (MDA) plan to fund 15 new Specialty Crop Block Grant projects over the next three years and allotted the MDA $1.3 million. Specialty Crops are commonly defined as locally grown fruits and vegetables, tree nuts, dried fruits, horticulture and nursery crops, including floriculture. The USDA annually allocates funds to the MDA to increase competitiveness and support development of specialty crops in the state.
