Federal charges have now been filed against the GOP state senator arrested for solicitation of a minor. Acting U.S. Attorney Lisa Kirkpatrick announced Justin Eichorn of Grand Rapids will face one count of attempted coercion and enticement of a minor in U.S. District Court. He is also facing a felony charge in Hennepin County of prostitution with someone “reasonably believed under 18 but at least 16”. Federal court documents say Eichorn responded several times to an online ad offering prostitution services between March 11th and March 17th. During the messages, he asked for a photo of her “with a lot less clothes” and asked “What’s a guy gota do to get with the hottest girl online tonight.” Over the course of messaging, the undercover officer repeatedly represented themselves as being 17 years old, not 18, but Eichorn still asked how much it would cost for various acts. He asked for a half-hour visit and a meeting was set up in Bloomington. Police were waiting for Eichorn on Monday. They arrested him and searched his vehicle. The criminal complaint reveals two cell phones, a condom, and $129 in cash were discovered inside. Eichorn is 40 years old, married, and has four children. He has been a state senator since 2017.Eichorn yesterday resigned from the State Senate in a letter to the Senate Leader and Governor Walz that were accepted.

Bail has been set at $4 million for the man accused in a fatal stabbing last week. Stearns County Judge Matthew Engelking ordered bail for Marquis Fisher in the amount of $4 million without conditions or $2 million with conditions. Fisher is charged with second degree intentional murder and second degree assault with a dangerous weapon after police say he stabbed 36-year-old Shane Michael Brunner twice following a fight on March 13th. Brunner died the next day at CentraCare – St. Cloud Hospital. Investigators say 25-year-old Fisher knew Brunner, and the two had been together at the house on the 600 block of 12th Avenue North all day long before they started fighting. Fisher, who is homeless, dropped the knife and fled the scene before police arrived. He was arrested just after 11:00 a.m. March 14th and booked into the Stearns County jail. He could be sentenced to more than 40 years in prison if convicted.
