The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Thursday August 21, 2025, at approximately 12:33 am, their office received a report of a business alarm located at the Ripley One Stop, located at the intersection of Hwy 115 and Grouse Road, Green Prairie Township, north of Little Falls. According to the Sheriff’s Office, Deputies arrived and noticed a window was removed from the east side of the business, indicating a forced entry. Deputies later made entry into the business and staff pointed out some vape canisters that appeared to be out of place. It is believed that the suspects may have been on bicycles, wearing dark clothing and masks. A Sheriff’s Office K-9 was able to track them south of the business through yards and down gravel roads between Grouse Road and Ginger Road. The Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance if they witnessed any suspicious activity in the area during this time frame. A 23-year-old from Browerville was injured Friday night around 8:50pm on Highway 10 in Fawn Lake Township near the Todd/Morrison County line when his cycle ended up going into its side. Ethen Newport was taken to the Staples hospital for treatment. Another motorcycle accident happened around 9:15pm Friday on Highway 23 in Rockville, a 21-year-old from Richmond collided with a vehicle at an intersection. The motorcycle driver was treated at St. Cloud Hospital. There has been a number of motorcycle accidents around the state in the previous weeks reminding vehicles and motorcyclists to watch speeds and out for each other on the roadways.
On Sunday evening the Little Falls Police Department reported a missing teenager according to the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. The report was updated at 10:23pm that the teenager was located and is safe. No other information was released on the case.
The next Little Falls School Board meeting has been changed from September 8th to September 22nd at 5pm at the District Office on Riverwood Drive. Again the next meeting now is on September 22nd at 5pm.
Military Appreciation Day is presented by USAA (United Services Automobile Association) and coordinated by the Minnesota National Guard. Military Appreciation Day’s official ceremony commences at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 26, at the Minnesota State Fair’s Bandshell. Minnesota’s leaders will recognize families with generations of service for their enduring commitment to our national defense. The program concludes with a flyover from four Blackhawk helicopters from the 34th Combat Aviation Brigade. The 34th Red Bull Infantry Division’s Concert Band performance follows at 10:30 a.m. at the bandshell. Starting at 12 p.m., there will be a Wells Fargo vehicle donation followed by a 12:30 p.m. recognition ceremony for military families representing multiple generations of service will take place at Dan Patch Park. Fairgoers are encouraged to join in the ceremony and thank these families for their shared sacrifice. Since 2010, the Minnesota National Guard, Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Network, and the Minneapolis VA Health Care System have partnered with iHeartMedia Minneapolis to create the weekly, state-wide syndicated radio program and podcast Minnesota Military Radio. On Military Appreciation Day, Minnesota Military Radio will broadcast live from the Dan Patch Park stage from 8-10 a.m., hosted by retired Army Command Sgt. Maj. Douglas Wortham, featuring special guests from across Minnesota’s military community, including Maj. Gen. Shawn Manke and the Command Senior Enlisted Advisor, Command Chief Master Sgt. Lisa Erikson. The program can be heard on AM960 KLTF at 11am Saturdays and on Q92 WYRQ 7am on Sundays. Nearly thirty educational and military-connected booths will be located at Dan Patch Park, along with entertainment on the Dan Patch Park stage from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Performances throughout the afternoon by various 34th Red Bull Infantry Division’s Band ensembles, with the fan-favorite the Red Devils (rock band) performing at 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. The Minnesota State Fair offers discounted tickets ($15 rate) for military members, veterans, and their families on August 26 with documentation at the gate.
No one was hurt when a fire broke out inside the garage of a St. Cloud home Friday morning. Fire crews were called out to 6408 Laurel Road at around 6:20 a.m. St. Cloud's newest ladder truck responded to the scene, and crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire. Additional companies assisted with a search of the home. A battalion chief says the fire was contained to the garage with minor extension to the kitchen. Authorities for the second time in a week were asking for your help as they search for a missing St. Cloud man. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension says 44-year-old Troy Strawn was last seen on May 19th at his apartment at 302 8th Avenue South in St. Cloud. It was reported just hours after the alert was sent out, that Strawn was located and is safe.
Authorities have released the names of a Paynesville man was killed, and his passenger was hurt, in a motorcycle crash in North Dakota. The North Dakota Highway Patrol says the crash happened on Wednesday at about 6:00 p.m. on Interstate 94 near Valley City. Sixty-six-year-old Dale Kuperus died in the crash. Thirty-nine-year-old Brittany Layne of Paynesville was taken to a local hospital. The Patrol says they were traveling westbound on the interstate when the motorcycle left the road and went into the median.
The Minnesota State Fair just missed the all time record for first day attendance on Thursday. It was reported that 137,148 visitors entered the gates on the first day, just shy of the 138,875 that entered the first day last year. Friday was below previous years at around 153,000 and change where the record years were in the 170,000 range. The State Fair runs through Labor Day, September 1st.

Sports- Twins win 9-7 Friday over White Sox. White Sox beat the Twins 7-3 Saturday then the White Sox shut out the Twins 8-0 Sunday to take the series. The Twins travel to Toronto tonight to take on Blue Jays at 5:30pm on Q92 WYRQ. Tennessee beat Vikings 23-13 Friday in final preseason game before the regular season begins, Vikings open at Chicago September 8th. Lynx beat Indiana 95-90 Friday night in Indiana then turned around and beat them again 97-84 Sunday in Minneapolis. Little Falls Girls Tennis 3-0 at Aitkin Friday, Royalton volleyball went 3-1 and Pierz 2-2 Friday at Royalton Volleyball Tournament. Saturday Little Falls girls and boys both ended in a tie in soccer. Malin Youngberg of Little Falls top Flyer finisher in Cross County at Perham finishing the girls race in 13th place. Tough Saturday for our Victory League teams in state tournament Hanska eliminated Pierz Brewers 2-0, Roseau beat Opole 7-6 eliminating Bears, Raymond eliminated St. Stephen 6-2 Saturday night. Nisswa moved on with an 8-2 win over Fergus Falls to play on Saturday. Better day on Sunday for our teams as Foley beat Jordan 4-0 in Class B and the Pierz Lakers win 9-0 over Courtland in Class C. Both Foley and Pierz Lakers advance to Saturday night action, more baseball this weekend on AM960 KLTF.
