The Canadian wildfire smoke is still lingering in parts of Minnesota today but the air quality alert for central and northern Minnesota was canceled Sunday night due to showers that moved in from the west. There will still be some lingering smoke and haze in southwestern Minnesota and most of Wisconsin were an Air Quality Alert was extended into Wednesday for those areas. With winds out of the south this week and warmer and more humid air coming in it will eliminate the smoke and bring more chances for rain showers and some thunderstorms over the next three to five days.
A Bowlus man was hurt when he crashed his motorcycle last Thursday night. The incident happened at around 8:20 p.m. on Nature Road in Two Rivers Township near Bowlus. The Morrison County Sheriff's Office says 22-year-old Ethan Solorz was traveling east on Nature Road, lost control of the bike east of 130th Avenue, and entered the ditch. Solorz was taken to St. Gabriel's Hospital in Little Falls with unknown injuries.
A Princeton man is dead after his motorcycle crashed Thursday night near Elk Lake. The Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office says that a motorcyclist crashed around 11:15 p.m. at 146th Street and 285th Avenue Northwest. The man was identified as 27-year-old Andrew R. Steadman. Witnesses said that he was driving at a high rate of speed just before crashing. Investigators found a helmet in the roadway near the scene and are working to determine more about what caused Steadman to crash.
Authorities say the 16-year-old from Monticello who disappeared June 27th has been found. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension says Evan Peters left his home that day and stopped communicating with his family. The BCA classified him as missing and endangered. An update late Thursday afternoon says Peters has been located safe. The Wright County Sheriff’s Office thanked those who spread the word to help find them. Again Peters was found safe and has contact his family.
One person is dead and two were hurt following an early Sunday morning shooting in Fargo’s downtown. According to police, officers were called to the 50 block of Broadway just before 2 a.m. with a report of shots fired. Three victims were located by first responders. One was pronounced dead at the scene. Two were taken to the hospital, where one remains in critical condition, according to police. Police said a crowd was gathered when officers arrived, and mutual aid was requested from neighboring agencies to assist with controlling the scene. Around 2:20 a.m., officers responded to another shooting where a person was found dead, according to a release. At this point, the police say it's unclear if the two shootings were related. The Anoka County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in identifying a group of people involved in a fireworks incident that injured several people during the Anoka County Fair. According to a press release, the incident occurred at approximately 11:34 p.m. on July 26 at the fairgrounds when someone threw a large firework toward a crowd. The firework ignited, resulting in burn injuries to multiple individuals nearby. Allina EMS responded to the scene and treated those injured. All of them have since been released. Investigators are particularly seeking to speak with a large group of suspected juveniles who were near the location at the time of the incident. No further information about the incident has been released.
Even though the rains has stopped last week and drier air in the past days there are still river flood warnings in effect this past weekend and into Monday. National Weather Service says there is a significant threat to property or life in Redwood County, Renville County, Yellow Medicine County, Chippewa County, Lac Qui Parle County. This alert comes from the National Weather Service in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It was issued Friday morning and expected to be an issue in many of the counties until Monday or Tuesday until water recede. Another issue is that more rain in the forecast beginning Sunday night in many areas.
Entertainment News: Loni Anderson, who played the empowered receptionist Jennifer Marlowe on the hit TV comedy “WKRP in Cincinnati,” died Sunday, at 79, and just days before her 80th birthday. Anderson died at a Los Angeles hospital following a prolonged illness. “WKRP in Cincinnati” aired from 1978 to 1982 The role earned Anderson two Emmy Award nominations and three Golden Globe nominations. Anderson starred on the big screen alongside Burt Reynolds in the 1983 comedy “Stroker Ace,” and the two later married later in the 1980s until their divorce in 1994. Anderson was born in St. Paul.

Sports- Swanville American Legion softball team went 1-1 on Saturday and lost to Bemidji in the 5th place game Sunday in the State American Legion Softball Tournament in Fairmont and finished 6th. Cleveland beats the Twins 3-2 in 10 innings on a walk off hit Friday night. Cleveland got a late run to beat the Twins Saturday 5-4. Twins battled back and held on to win 5-4 Sunday to get one of the games. The Twins are at Detroit to open a series today with pregame at 5pm on Q92 WYRQ. Kayla McBride scores 8 three pointers in a 111-58 rout of Las Vegas Saturday in one of the most lopsided WNBA games in their history for a Lynx 53 point win but star Napheesa Collier sustained an ankle injury in the game. Lynx have Seattle Tuesday. Region 9C scores: Pierz Lakers 6-4 over Aitkin, Upsala 7-3 over St. Wendel on Friday in Pierz. Saturday Pierz Brewers 8-0 over Royalton, Randall 7-5 over Opole, Aitkin eliminated St. Wendel 5-1 and Pierz Lakers routed Upsala 26-0 in 7 innings for the Lakers to advance to State Tournament. Sunday Opole eliminated Royalton 7-1 and Randall got a state qualifying bid 7-5 over Pierz Brewers on Sunday. The Region 9C Baseball tournament moves to Opole on Saturday. District 4B scores Friday Avon 2-1 over Foley, Saturday Nisswa 11-1 over Fort Ripley and St. Stephen beat Buckman 9-8. Sunday St. Stephen beat Avon 5-0 while Nisswa downed Sobieski 8-1. Foley beat Fort Ripley 3-2 in elimination game after a rain delay last night.
