A one vehicle accident sent two people to the hospital Monday afternoon at 12:20pm on Highway 10 in Cushing Township. 62-year-old Brenda Johnson of Bethel was driving a pickup with a trailer on Highway 10 when the vehicle went into the median, over corrected crossed both lanes and struck the ditch rolling once. Johnson and her passenger, 30-year-old Lisa Bernhagen of Bethel were both taken to St. Gabriel's Hospital in Little Falls with reportedly non life threatening injuries. 

One person was killed and another was seriously hurt in a crash in Meeker County. The Sheriff's Office says the incident happened at about 3:00 a.m. on Sunday at the intersection of Meeker County Road 6 and 746th Avenue in Collinwood Township south of Dassel.  The vehicle was going west on the county road when it left the road and struck a telephone pole on the passenger side of the vehicle.  Both occupants had to be extricated from the vehicle. The passenger, 19-year-old Nolan Henke of Dassel, died at the scene. The driver, 19-year-old Elijah Miller of Cokato, was airlifted to the Hennepin County Medical Center in critical condition with possible life-threatening injuries. The crash remains under investigation. That was one of many accidents over the weekend reported by sheriff's offices and the State Patrol which also included one person injured in Hackensack Sunday afternoon, a 32 year old from Coon Rapids was treated for non serious injuries. A fatal accident reported by Brownton where the state baseball games were on Sunday morning around 8am that killed a 60-year-old Waconia man who collided with a semi-truck, which had three children riding with 2 adults. One of the children had to be treated at a local hospital, no others injured.  

7th District Congresswoman Michelle Fischbach recently visited the area and we wanted to share some information on her trip. Congresswoman Michelle Fischbach recently visited Little Falls. She stopped at many local businesses. While at Lakes Area Aviation, she had the opportunity to learn about their local flight school and what that brings to the community, which has the boyhood home of Aviator Charles Lindbergh. She was also able to see an aerial view of Little Falls while taking a flight during her visit. Congresswoman Fischbach then visited with business owners in downtown Little Falls. She first stopped at Reality Roasters and learned about the coffee beans that are roasted locally. At the Little Falls Bakery, she could chat with the owners and learn more about the business. Congresswoman Fischbach toured the renovated Falls Theatre and was able to learn about the history of the theatre. Next stop was visiting Great River Arts, where she learned about what they offer to the community through their space and classes. At the Shoppes of Little Falls, Congresswoman Fischbach was able to see the many small businesses and vendors that sell their wares there. The last stop on the tour was to visit Ciao Thyme, where Mayor Greg Zylka and Phil and Susy Prosapio continued to share about Little Falls and the improvements that have been made to the downtown area over recent years. Congresswoman Fischbach is dedicated to helping rural communities grow stronger and thrive in the Seventh Congressional District.

Authorities on Monday were asking for the public's help in finding a missing juvenile but late yesterday it was reported he was found safe. 15-year-old Caden Hooper was last seen at his home in Sauk Centre at about 7:30pm Sunday night and family said they became concerned after he did not return home as he does have some health issues. Police reported late yesterday that Hooper has been located and is safe. 

The Morrison County Sheriff's Office had been asked on what was happening last week with a police presence at the Eastern Morrison County Sportsmen Club. Sheriff Shawn Larsen said on August 20th and 21st, 2025, Morrison County law enforcement conducted force-on-force training to strengthen our preparedness for real-world situations. A special thank you goes out to Czech Auto Body for providing one of their junk vehicles for this training. We would also like to thank Eastern Morrison County Sportsmen Club members for allowing us to utilize their range for training. We are grateful to the entire Morrison County community for your continued support of our law enforcement in working to keep our communities safe. 

Special primaries will be held on today for two open Minnesota Senate seats. The primary will determine the DFL nominee for former Senator Nicole Mitchell's seat, following her resignation after being convicted of two counts of felony burglary related to a break-in at her stepmother's house in Detroit Lakes.  Senate District 47 covers Woodbury in Washington County and the southern part of Maplewood in Ramsey County. Two current state representatives are vying for the DFL nomination: Rep. Ethan Cha and Rep. Amanda Hemmingsen Jaeger. The winner will face the only Republican candidate: Dwight Dorau. Currently in the Senate, there are 33 Democrats and 32 Republicans. There's another special primary in Senate District 29, which includes much of Wright County, and parts of Hennepin and Meeker counties. This one comes after Sen. Bruce Anderson (R-Buffalo) suddenly died. 

 

Emblom Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls is hosting their 4th Annual Classic Car Show today at the funeral home parking lot from 4-7pm. There will be many classic cars, a race car, a Hum-Vee from Camp Ripley and more to view, backpack giveaway for kids, door prizes, tours of the funeral home and also food to purchase, a sloppy joe meal for $5 with proceeds going to the local humane society. All are welcome.

Still looking fairly dry for the Labor Day weekend with highs in the 70s. 

Sports- Toronto beat the Twins 10-4 last night. The Twins (59-72) continue series at Toronto tonight at 5:30pm on Q92 WYRQ. The Vikings have signed former North Dakota State and Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz to be the backup for J J McCarthy for the opener in Chicago on September 8th and traded their backup quarterback Sam Howell to the Philadelphia Eagles. High School Football starts later this week for Pierz Thursday night on 94ROCKS and for Little Falls on Friday night on AM960 KLTF.
