Following the officer involved shooting in Walker Sunday night, Morrison County Sheriff Shawn Larsen released this statement early Monday:  We are deeply saddened to learn of the officer-involved shooting in Cass County, that resulted in a deputy being shot. During times like this, we are reminded of the risks our law enforcement officers face every day while protecting our communities. Please keep this deputy, their family, and their colleagues in your thoughts and prayers. We ask for a full and speedy recovery, and we stand ready to offer any support needed during this difficult time. To our brothers and sisters in Cass County-we stand with you--Sheriff Shawn Larsen. Cass County released this full statement on Monday: A suspect was killed and a deputy was hospitalized after being shot in an officer-involved shooting in rural Walker on Sunday. The Cass County Sheriff’s Office says at 4:37 p.m., it received a 911 call reporting shooting heard near residences in the area of Old Agency Drive and Onigum Road NW (County Road 13) in Turtle Lake Township. Shortly after officers arrived, deputies tried to make contact with a male suspect walking in the 8000 block of Onigum Road NW. The suspect reportedly fled from deputies, and a foot pursuit ensued. The Sheriff’s Office says an exchange of gunfire took place, where a deputy was shot and transported via helicopter to a Fargo hospital for treatment. Late Monday the sheriff's office Facebook page reported the deputy had been released and recuperating at home. The male suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. According to the Sheriff’s Office report, body-worn cameras were utilized and active in the incident, and deputies involved have been placed on critical incident leave during the investigation. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is now on scene and leading the investigation.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported on a number of accidents in the past week. Back on Wednesday, two vehicles collided at Highway 371 and Excelsior Road in Baxter. Around 2pm, 82-year-old Delores Malcolm of Nisswa was on Highway 371 and a 17-year-old from Sartell made a left turn onto 371 and collided with the first vehicle. Malcolm was treated for non life threatening injuries. The 17-year-old was not injured though a 21 year old passenger complained of neck pain and was taken to the hospital to be checked out. Another accident was around 6:40pm on Friday night in Mille Lacs County. 45-year-old Jeremy Swanson of Anoka was northbound on Highway 47 and 58-year-old Daniel Johnson of Foley was southbound when Johnson's vehicle struck the back end of a tractor operated by 62-year-old Eric Hovland of Mora. Johnson then crossed the center line and struck Swanson's vehicle. Both Swanson and Johnson were taken to area hospitals for non life threatening injuries. The tractor operator was not hurt.

A teenager was hurt when he crashed his motorcycle north of Garfield Saturday morning. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office responded to the 8900 block of County Road 12 NW at around 11:50 a.m. Responding deputies arrived to find 19-year-old Riley Wunderlich lying in the west ditch, semi-responsive and in severe pain. A witness told authorities, Wunderlich was riding in the ditch at approximately 55-miles-per-hour, when he tried to jump a driveway. The sheriff's office says when Wunderlich landed, he was ejected from the dirt bike. Wunderlich was taken by ambulance to Alomere Health in Alexandria, then airlifted to another hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. The sheriff's office says Wunderlich was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, and alcohol is not believed to be involved.

A Champlain man drowned in North Dakota while duck hunting. Authorities say Christopher Hendricks, 30, of Champlin, was hunting with a friend when their dog went to retrieve a bird about 100 yards from shore. When the dog got to the bird, it got caught in a thin sheet of ice and was struggling to free itself. Hendricks swam out to help the dog, but showed signs of distress. His friend, Maxwell DiVenere, tried to assist him, but Hendricks let go of his friend and slipped below the surface. DiVenere managed to return to shore with the dog and called for help. Emergency services, including the Ashley (North Dakota) Fire and Rescue, responded to the scene. DiVenere was treated for exhaustion and exposure at Ashley Medical Center. The search for Hendricks began the afternoon of Wednesday, November 12th, and continued until late at night. It resumed Thursday morning, with the help of a drone team. Hendricks' body was found just before 2 p.m., approximately 40 to 50 yards from shore, according to authorities.

A woman was killed in a fiery head-on crash with a semi. The Minnesota State Patrol says the incident happened just before 9:00 p.m. Monday on Highway 95 in Isanti County. A woman was driving a Jeep Patriot traveling west on the highway when the vehicle veered into the eastbound lanes and collided head-on with a Mack Semi Truck. The Jeep was immediately fully engulfed in fire upon impact. Both vehicles came to a rest on the northbound side of Highway 95. The names of those involved has not been released.

A message from the Little Falls Area Ministerial Association "Phone calls have been steadily coming in from volunteers who are willing to help make this meal a success. We are currently about seventy five percent of the way to reaching our capacity for volunteers. We are still in need of a couple of people to help us with setup on Wednesday morning, as well as those who might help in picking up people around the community to bring them in for the meal. Anyone who would like a ride to the ballroom can call Tim Sumner at 320-632-2540. We will be preparing 600 meals to be placed on 600 plates in front of 600 chairs for many people of our community. We are inviting people to come and be a part of this magnificent event. We would like every chair to be filled. For those who just aren't able to attend, but would still like a meal, we will deliver meals to their location in or near little falls. They can make arrangements by calling me at 320-632-2540. We look forward to meeting some new friends as well as seeing some old friends this Thanksgiving Day at the Falls Ballroom. Those who arrive between 11 AM and 1 PM will receive a delicious hot meal within a few minutes of their arrival. We really want to bless the people of Little Falls for the blessing that they have been to me in support of these meals over the years".
