NEWS
–Today is Good Friday in the Christian/Catholic faith meaning the day that Jesus is crucified on the hill at Calvary. Masses and church services will be held this afternoon around the area. With that many businesses may have special hours today for staff to attend the service of their choosing and many schools are off today. A reminder that the offices of Little Falls Radio will close at noon on today for Good Friday. You can listen to the Good Friday service from Grace Covenant Church in Little Falls at noon today with local news at 11:45am on AM960 KLTF and fallsradio.com. –St. Cloud firefighters on Wednesday evening extinguished a blaze that started at the back of a home in the 600 block of Sixth Avenue South, in the St. Cloud State University neighborhood. The fire shortly before 7:00pm was under control within minutes and no injuries were reported. The fire started at the back of the house, spreading to the porch then burning through to the attic. There was damage done to the back portion of the house and smoke damage through both floors of the house. The cause of the fire and the damage estimate is unknown at this time. No one was home at the time of the fire.

–One driver was injured on Wednesday after a rollover collision on the south side of St. Cloud. Officers were called to a collision involving a pickup and an SUV around 2:30pm on Wednesday afternoon at the intersection of Kuhn Drive and Southway Drive. The female driver of the SUV was taken to St. Cloud Hospital for injuries that were not considered life-threatening. The driver of the pickup had no apparent injuries.

–More than 100 student-athletes gathered at St. Cloud State University on Wednesday to sign a petition. The students gathered to show support for athletes in six programs the university intends to cut, along with people affected by planned roster adjustments, and to ask administrators to reverse their decisions. On March 2nd, Director of Athletics Heather Weems and school President Earl H. Potter III told athletes, coaches and the public about the decisions. Plans are to cut men’s indoor and outdoor track and field, men’s cross country, men’s and women’s tennis and women’s Nordic skiing. An annual structural deficit of $6 million and intentions to resupply reserves with $3 million caused the changes. The athletic department runs a $500,000 deficit, and the school has said cuts should restore $250,000.

–Saint Mary’s University says a missing student was found early Wednesday in the Chicago area. On Monday, the school reported Luke Ringhand missing from the Winona campus. No other information on why Ringhand left the campus for Chicago was released. Ringhand is a senior philosophy major from Ironton.

–A Monticello man was injured Thursday morning when his car hit a stoplight pole. 36-year old Daniel Banyai was driving east on Minnesota Highway 241 around 7:15am when he drove to the right and collided with a stoplight pole on Lincoln Drive. Banyai was taken to North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale with injuries the State Patrol did not consider life-threatening.

–There are numerous events on Saturday, egg hunts by Pierz Lions at Pioneer Elementary, Richardson Lakes Lions have one Saturday at Bulldog Lake Center, and more can be found at fallsradio.com.

–A woman charged with murder following the death of her father in St. Cloud is being held on bail, set at $1 million with no conditions or $900,000 with conditions that include court approval for leaving the state. Bail was set Thursday morning during Lisa Kearney’s first appearance in Stearns County District Court, where she is charged with one count of second-degree murder. Kearney was extradited from Louisville, Kentucky, to St. Cloud and booked at Stearns County Jail on Wednesday afternoon. Prosecutor Kevin Voss told the court the state might seek to bring the case before a grand jury for first-degree murder charges.

–Two drivers were hospitalized Wednesday when their vehicles collided at the intersection of Highway 371 and Gull Lake Dam Road, north of Baxter around 3:45pm. A truck driven by 32-year old Randy W. Vonruden of Brainerd was northbound on Highway 371, turning west on Gull Lake Dam Road, while a car driven by 17-year old Kate Coffman of Brainerd was heading south on Highway 371, when the two collided in the intersection. Both drivers were transported to Essentia Health-St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd for non-life-threatening injuries.

–A St. Cloud man has been arrested for driving under the influence after striking the side of a gas station in Foley. Around 11:15pm Wednesday the man only identified as a 46-year old man from St. Cloud in the police report, was driving through an alley when he struck the building. The man tried to drive away but an employee was able to get the man to stop. The driver was arrested and taken to Benton County Jail to face possible charges of driving under the influence. No one was injured.

–Six out of seven charges filed against a Brainerd woman accused of assaulting her brother last year have been dismissed. The only charge 51-year old Lori Ann Tverberg pleaded guilty to was obstructing the legal process. All other charges were dismissed. The judge sentenced Tverberg to 365 days in Crow Wing County Jail, with the sentence stayed for two years, meaning she will not do any jail time as long as she does not violate her probation.

–19-year old Lance David Pillard of Brooten was charged in Morrison County District Court with first degree criminal sexual conduct with a victim under 16 years of age. If convicted, Pillard faces 30 years in prison and/or a $40,000 fine.

NCAA= The NCAA Hockey Frozen Four begins today with North Dakota and Minnesota-Duluth with games, St. Cloud State and Ferris State play on Saturday at 3pm in St. Paul for their first round game. The tournament concludes in Tampa on April 7th and April 9th.
TWINS= Twins vs. Pittsburgh Saturday at noon, Twins vs. Yankees Sunday at noon, both games live on Q92 WYRQ from Florida.
NFL= quarterback Robert Griffin III has found a new team, RG3 has signed a two year deal to play with the Cleveland Browns.
