The first goal is to raise awareness of the reason for Memorial Day- a day for remembering and honoring military personnel who died in service of their country, particularly those who have died in battle or as a result of wounds sustained in battle. The second goal is to have a community event, which honors those fallen heroes and their families, veterans, and current military members. Their final goal is to raise funds to support the Yellow Ribbon Network Mission of assisting local deployed and/or current military members, their families and veterans. People are encouraged to wear red, white and blue today, look for donation jars at many businesses and schools, and finally take a moment to remember the meaning of Memorial Day.
