NEWS
--Morrison County Sheriff Shawn Larsen is asking the public to come forward with information that may assist with their investigation into the death of a hunter. The Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office on Wednesday determined that 41-year old Terrence Brisk died of blood loss due to a gunshot wound. Investigators believe Brisk was shot on Monday between 2:15pm and 4:30pm on wooded property northwest of the intersection of Hawthorne Road and Jewel Road in Belle Prairie Township, east of Little Falls. Investigators are trying to determine the circumstances of Brisk's death, including the possibility that the individual who shot Brisk is unaware that they had done so. The Morrison County Sheriff's Office is asking nearby property owners, anyone who was hunting in the area at the time, and anyone who saw an unfamiliar person or vehicle leaving or entering the woods between 2:00pm and 4:45pm on November 7th, to contact the Morrison County Sheriff’s Office at (320) 632-9233.

--The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office reported that on Tuesday afternoon around 3:45pm their office received a report of a two vehicle accident with injuries on Dove Road approximately 5 miles north of Randall, in Cushing Township. According to the Sheriff’s Office, 55-year old Kevin Borst of Pillager was traveling north on Dove Road in a van as he was reaching for some trail mix when he ran into the back of a dump truck driven by 50-year old Bret Olson of Freeport. Borst suffered minor injuries and was taken by family to seek medical treatment. Borst’s vehicle was totaled.

--The Minnesota Secretary of State's office estimates a 74.05% overall voter turnout for the state in the 2016 election which would be the lowest voter turnout among Minnesotans for a presidential election since 2004. The office estimates 2,941,655 out of 3,270,535 voters registered by 7:00am Tuesday cast a vote in the presidential election. That would be 89.94% voter turnout however the total number of voters registered at 7:00am does not account for additional voters who registered at the polls. Using the same flawed numbers in Morrison County at 7am Tuesday there were 19,085 registered voters and in total 17,738 ballots were cast. That would be 92.94% voter turnout but again we expect the percentage to be lower because these numbers do not count any voters in the overall total who registered the same day.

--A suspect is in custody for stealing an ATV and then fleeing on foot. Benton County authorities stopped 23-year old Jessie Tolmie on an ATV around 11:00am Thursday on Benton County Road 3. After a deputy stopped Tolmie the officer learned the ATV was stolen hours earlier. At that time the suspect fled on foot. A search for the suspect began and Tolmie was apprehended around 3:40pm when he was located walking about a mile west of Popple Creek. Tolmie is in custody awaiting possible formal charges of possessing stolen property and fleeing a peace officer on foot.

--The state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating whether a Benton County deputy forged or copied the signatures of judges onto search warrants before filing them in court. Deputy Chad Haas was assigned to the Central Minnesota Violent Offender Task Force when the allegations came to light after a routine review of the VOTF property room. It was discovered that numerous items of property in that room didn't have associated reports completed or filed in the records management system. The BCA is submitting four warrants that Haas filed with the court in September to an examiner to determine whether the judges' signatures were copied or forged onto the warrants. Haas could face charges of felony forgery. He is on leave from his job with the VOTF.
