--Homecoming for Little Falls today begins with a special KLTF Party Line this morning at 10:00am from the High School Commons where Steve and Melanie will be talking with students, faculty and others about Little Falls Community Schools. The parade at 2:00pm begins and ends at the high school going past the Middle School, Lindbergh Elementary, down 1st Avenue to the back of St. Mary's Church and back to the high school. The Tailgate Party begins at 5pm and listen to Party Line today for a big announcement on the Tailgate Party tonight, where all proceeds go to Flyer Athletics. The game is at 7pm and can be heard live on AM960 and online at fallsradio.com.
--The USA homecoming is today. This year both Upsala and Swanville are combing their homecoming for the 1:00pm game in Upsala against Kimball. On Sunday the Upsala King and Queen crowned were Andrew Ripplinger and Katlin Welinski. Also crowned on Sunday were the Swanville King and Queen Jarick Rieffer and Sophie Larson.
--Royalton’s Homecoming is on Friday, October 7th. Coronation is this Sunday at 6:00pm in the Royalton High School South Gym. Candidates for Royalton Homecoming King are Louis Fulford, Jordan Malikowski, Micheal Petron, Tanner Weaver and Austin Zapzalka. Candidates for Royalton Homecoming Queen are Anna Beam, Jordyn Bzdok, Brandi Kloss, Allison Moga and Brooke Tschida.
--An East Gull Lake resident Bruce Buxton was named the 2016 Brainerd Citizen of the Year Thursday at The Center in Brainerd. Buxton received nomination letters from several different groups.
--A 24-year-old man is dead after he was struck and killed by a train in Big Lake Wednesday night. Authorities say they were called to the scene around 6:30pm at the BNSF Rail Crossing on Highway 25. Upon arrival found the man already deceased. The Sherburne County Sheriff's Office identified the pedestrian killed as Cody Haberman of Big Lake. No word yet on why Haberman was by the tracks or what led up to his death. The investigation continues.
--A Hasting’s woman was taken to the St. Cloud Hospital after she hit another car while trying to enter the roundabout. The St. Cloud Police Department says the incident happened on University Drive and 5th Avenue South shortly after 3:30pm on Tuesday. Eighteen-year-old Brittany Lee of Hastings was trying to merge into the roundabout while northbound on 5th Avenue South. Twenty-five-year-old Andrew Pedretti of Victoria was already in the roundabout about to exit onto eastbound University Drive South. Lee was taken to the Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The other involved in the accident, Pedretti was not hurt.
--St. Cloud police say alcohol may have played a factor in a one vehicle crash in North St. Cloud earlier this week. The incident happened just after 10:00am on Monday in the 1000 block of 2nd Street North. 23-year-old Marissa Bugg-Voss, of St. Paul, was heading South on 10th Avenue North when she approached the intersection and could not stop for the vehicles ahead of her waiting at a red light. She then swerved to avoid the vehicles, lost control, went through the intersection, struck several bushes, poles and a sign to the business on the corner. Bugg-voss was taken to St. Cloud hospital for non-life threatening injures. Police indiciated that they believed speed, overcorrection and potentially being under the influence were all contributing factors in the crash.
--The Little Falls City Council meets Monday 7:30pm at city hall.
--A former Blaine man was sentenced this week to nine years in prison for stalking, strangling, sexually assaulting and threatening to kill his ex-girlfriend. 21-year old Darryl Don Freeberg was charged in late 2015 with 17 felonies and one misdemeanor. He was convicted at trial in July of 14 of those counts. He was subsequently charged with five more felonies that accused him of making dozens of calls from jail to the victim in the case, continuing to stalk her. He pleaded guilty to three of those five counts.
--The Waite Park Police Department has released the name of the man injured Tuesday after a crane tipped over at a construction site. He is 45-year old Craig Richards of Rice. Richards was moving a light pole Tuesday afternoon when the crane tipped over. Richards received a head injury, but was conscious and responsive. Richards was taken by ambulance to the hospital.
--A Blaine woman was hurt in a rollover on Highway 10 in Elk River just after 8:30am Tuesday. Twenty-two-year-old Macy Johnson was going west when she made a lane change, overcorrected, and rolled into the median. Johnson has non life-threatening injuries.
