NEWS
--Foggy conditions led to a fatal head-on accident Sunday morning around 1:00am on Highway 27, near the Morrison/Mille Lacs County line around 9 miles west of Onamia. 19-year-old Timothy Przybilla of Pierz crossed the center line due to the fog and collided with 51-year-old Mark Ehlers of Onamia. Ehlers was dead when authorities arrived. Przybilla was taken to the hospital with non life threatening injuries.

--Crow Wing County sheriff Todd Dahl is asking the public to keep a lookout for 20-year-old Kyler Shaw. Shaw has not been seen nor heard from since August 13th at the Baxter Wal-Mart. He is 6' feet tall, 175 pounds, blonde hair and green eyes. His aunt became concerned after he had not contacted her for over a week and had been residing with her up until the time he disappeared. Any information would be appreciated to the sheriff's office at 218-829-4749.

--A 5-year-old Henning girl is recovering after a serious farm accident last Monday. Savhannah Springer was pinched between the hitch of a haybine and the hitch of the tractor on her family farm suffering very serious abdominal injuries. She was airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center and last listed in serious condition. Doctors believe that Springer will make a full recovery after several weeks in the hospital. If she was an adult, doctors believe she would have died.

--Authorities recoved the body of a Park Rapids man in 8 feet of water Friday afternoon after he was thrown from a boat on Fish Hook Lake near Park Rapids. Hubbard County said the body of John Sargent was found around 3:00pm Friday. He was with four others who all reached shore after their boat collided with another boat. One of the passengers in the boat was hospitalized with broken ribs. Another passenger and the two in the other boat had minor injuries.

--A boat was destroyed by fire Wednesday night in the Gull Lake Narrows in Lake Shore. The Nisswa Fire Chief said the runabout boat was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived to the scene. The boat owner was stopping to get gas when he noticed the fire. The man jumped off the boat and swam to shore about 100 feet away. They had to first try to get the boat to shore to extinguish the fire. A nearby boat assisted the fire department by driving back and forth to make waves so the burning boat would float to shore. Once the boat was near the shore, firefighters extinguished the fire. There were no injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

--Motorists on Highway 27 between Highway 169 in Onamia and the city of Isle, near the south shore of Mille Lacs Lake, will encounter workers, heavy equipment and delays as the road is resurfaced beginning today. Segments of Highway 27 will be reduced to a single lane from sunrise to sunset through late October. Flaggers and a pilot car will control traffic through the daily work zones. Motorists approaching the work zones must slow down, be prepared to stop, obey all flaggers and use caution when following the pilot car through the work zone. The closures are needed while crews resurface the road, replace underground pipes and add a new left-turn lane to the Highway 27/Highway 47 intersection in Isle. The project will also replace segments of sidewalk in Isle and Wahkon and make other improvements while lanes are closed. All businesses in Isle, Wahkon, Onamia and other locations along the project will remain accessible throughout the project. Also the Highway 27 Rice Creek Bridge project will begin September 6th. Expect detours on Highway 27 between Little Falls and Pierz into October as work is done.

--The State Patrol and Todd County authorities are investigating a car vs. motorcycle accident on Highway 71 at County Road 23 that occurred around 2:00pm Friday. 79-year-old Karen Moller of Eagle Bend was on 71 when she turned south and struck an oncoming motorcycle head on. Moller was taken to a hospital with non life threatening injuries. The motorcyclist was thrown from the bike and ended up in a ditch by the intersection. The motorcyclist indentified as 27-year-old Grace Hernandez of Andover had reportedly sustained non life threatening injuries from the accident.

--A St. Cloud man whose car was broadsided by a semi Friday morning at U.S. Highway 10 and Minnesota Highway 24 received non life threatening injuries. 46-year old Tommy Gobernatz of St. Cloud was driving north on Highway 24 at Highway 10 at 8:05am Friday when his vehicle was broadsided by an eastbound semi driven by 28-year old Daniel Denis of Des Moines, who failed to stop for a red light. Gobernatz was taken by ambulance to St. Cloud Hospital with injures deemed not to be life-threatening. Denis was not injured.

--Two people were injured in a two vehicle accident Wednesday morning on Highway 71 in Stearns County. 20-year-old Taylor Gieske of Melrose was on 71 when approached the stop sign too fast and went through the intersection striking broadside with 50-year-old Thomas Schmiesing of Sauk Centre. Both vehicles ended up in the ditch. Both drivers were taken to the hospital and treated for what was reported to be non-life threatening injuries.

--Local Little Falls author Gabrielle Meyer will hold a book signing for her latest book “A Mother in the Making” Thursday from 6-8pm at Linden Hill in Little Falls. Meyer has had two novella published as part of a collection of stories from a number of authors, but this is her first solo project. She has another novella due out in December.

CLASS C= Nisswa blew a 3-0 lead in the 9th Saturday to Minnesota Lake only to come back and win 4-3 in 10 innings. Sobieski pitches another shutout 6-0 win over Ortonville. Lastrup battled Hampton for 13 innings to win 8-5 Sunday. Hutchinson defeated Fort Ripley Sunday night 8-2. Sobieski plays 11am Saturday, Nisswa at 1:30pm Saturday, Lastrup 7:30pm Saturday all on AM960 KLTF.
TWINS= Toronto belts 4 homeruns Friday to beat Twins 15-8. Twins blow a 5-0 lead Saturday losing 8-7 to Toronto and Toronto gets the sweep over Twins 9-6 on Sunday. Twins at Clevleand 5:30 on Q92.
LYNX= Connecticut beat Lynx Friday 84-80. Lynx rebounded to beat Seattle Sunday night at home 92-80. Lynx have clinched playoff spot.
