NEWS
--Morrison County Sheriff Shawn Larsen spoke on Little Falls Radio. Sheriff Larsen first spoke about a page was sent from their office to notify residents within a 3 mile radius of the Eastern Morrison County Sportsman Club that there will be extra gunfire heard in the area on Thursday night as they conduct a training exercise at this location. The page was inadvertently sent out to all parties in the Morrison County Sheriff’s Emergency Notification System which led to a number of phone calls, text messages and emails to their office that evening on the emergency announcement that was sent out. The sheriff's office said they are very sorry for this and want to reassure all residents everything is okay. The Sheriff continued to stress the watch out for scams as many more have been reported from their department asking for money, which they would never do, tell you that you missed jury duty without a mailing for your jury duty services or stating if you do not comply you will be arrested. Again these are all scams. Larsen said the biggest problem is untraceable phone numbers which makes it very difficult for their office to find the scammers, so if you receive a phone call, text or email that looks or sounds suspicious, hang up or delete the messages.

PRESIDENT'S DAY HISTORY.
IN 1885- February 22nd was ruled a national holiday for the birthdate of first United States President George Washington. Many states started after the U.S. Civil War to also celebrate the birthday of Abraham Lincoln on February 12th as a holiday so it was then decided to combine the two dates into one holiday. In 1971 the Uniform Monday Holiday Act announced that the third Monday in February be a federal holiday for both Washington and Lincoln. Since them some states call it Washington's Birthday or Washington/Lincoln's combined birthday holiday while other U.S. States like Minnesota call it President's Day for all the President's instead of just the two.
