–Events begin today for the Little Falls Dam Festival. The Mid Minnesota Federal Credit Union Dam Festival Medallion Hunt kicked off this morning with clues read around 8:25am on Little Falls Radio. Listen this week on Little Falls Radio for more clues until the medallion is found in Little Falls. When found the medallion must be verified by Mid Minnesota Federal Credit Union. The winner gets $500 cash. Friday is the sidewalk sale with food and music by Levi Pelzer Band Friday night. Saturday is a full day of events including a bike ride, 5K run, parade at 11:00am, events all afternoon and evening at Maple Island Park, Diamondback performs Saturday night and it wraps up with fireworks at dusk. –A legislative update is today from 1-2:30pm at the Little Falls City Hall Council Chambers. Senator Paul Gazelka nad Representative Ron Kresha will be on hand to answer questions and discuss the recent legislative session and preview the next one.

–Around 8:10am on Thursday the Lakes Area Drug Investigative Division (LADID) executed a search warrant in the 1000 block of 13th Avenue Northeast in Brainerd. A quantity of methamphetamine was located and two people, 46-year old Andrea Justin and 38-year old Jason Mattsen, both of Brainerd were arrested for 5th Degree Controlled Substance. The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind everyone to report any and all suspicious activity to your local law enforcement.

–56-year old John William Magney of Waite Park has been senteced to life in prison after pleading guilty in April to first degree criminal sexual conduct. He admitted he forced intercourse on a 14-year-old girl he knew. It’s the third time Magney has been convicted of sexually assaulting girls. He was convicted in 1982 for assaulting a 4-year old girl in Mille Lacs County. He was convicted in 1997 after assaulting a 6-year old girl in Benton County. Stearns County District Court Judge Sarah Hennesy sentenced Magney in accordance with the terms of a plea agreement that called for a life sentence with the chance for parole after serving 18 years of his sentence.

–A 71-year old Brainerd man was given multiple charges after threatening to kill a private citizen and law enforcement officers. David Borg appeared in Crow Wing County District Court last week after a warrant was issued for his arrest. Borg was charged with two counts of felony terroristic threats, two counts of aggravated stalking with possession of a deadly weapon and other gross misdemeanor charges. Borg allegedly threatened a neighbor by phone for borrowing items from him, then called police and allegedly informed him he was a sniper and threatened officer’s lives if they came to get him. A warrant was issued by the Crow Wing County Attorney and Borg was arrested at a Baxter department store June 2nd without incident and charged this past week.

–Track maintenance began Friday that will force the closure of some railroad crossings in the St. Cloud area. BNSF crews are working on the crossing at 7th Street Southeast between 8th Avenue Southeast and Lincoln Avenue Southeast in St. Cloud. Two Sauk Rapids crossings will also close. The 9th Street South crossing between 3rd Avenue South and Lincoln Avenue South will close as will the 2nd Avenue South crossing between 6th Street South and Benton Drive South. The closures scheduled to be completed by tonight.

–Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office divers pulled the body of a 54-year old Brainerd man Saturday morning from Nokay Lake east of Brainerd. The man was reported missing when he did not show for work on Friday around 8:00am. The boat he was in was found later that day. The man was found around 9:40am Saturday morning and was identified Raymond Achman of Brainerd. His body was taken for an autopsy which is procedure. Foul play is not suspected.

–Pequot Lakes stated Friday the fire at an assisted living facility Thursday night was set intentionally. The state fire marshal began interviewing residents and staff Friday. No arrests have been made at this time. No one was injured in the fire.

–Police prevented a suicidal man from jumping off of Granite City Crossing bridge Friday morning, forcing the bridge to close for about 1½ hours. The incident began at 3:11am when motorists saw a man sitting on the railing of the bridge and called police. A 57-year old man with no permanent address was on the outside ledge of the south railing when police arrived. He told officers that he was suicidal and was going to jump. Officers talked to the man for 90 minutes and were able to get close enough that one officer grabbed one of the man’s arms. Other officers intervened and were able to pull the man over the railing. He was taken to St. Cloud Hospital for an evaluation. The bridge was closed until about 5:00am.

–A Sartell man was injured around 10:40am Friday when his motorcycle crashed on a Minnesota Highway 23 ramp near Paynesville. 58-year old Donald Norbert Erkens of Sartell was taken to a hospital in Paynesville with non life threatening injuries.

–The Pierz City Council meets tonight 7pm at Pierz City Hall.

TWINS= Ervin Santana hit a 3 run double and pitched a 4 hit shutout as Twins beat Giants Friday 4-0. Twins hold off Giants Saturday with good relief pitching 3-2. On Sunday the Twins relief fell apart as Giants score 9 runs in the late innings to win 13-8 and salvage one of the three games in San Franscisco. The Twins host Seattle tonight 6:30pm on Q92 WYRQ.
PIERZ= Pierz will face New London Spicer in the Class AA State Tournament quarter-finals Thursday at Dick Putz Field in St. Cloud with game time around 5:30pm as they are the 4th game of the day. Hear the action live on FM94 KFML and fallsradio.com.
WNBA= Lynx beat Washington 98-73 Friday to go to 8-0 and make Lindsey Whalen the winningest player in the WNBA. Lynx win again on Sunday 91-74 over Dallas and are now 9-0 on the WNBA season.
