NEWS
--The Pierz Public Schools will be holding another public referendum meeting this Wednesday at 7:30pm at Pioneer Elementary. The district has a referendum asking voters to approve an $18.45 million bond authority next Monday, May 22nd. Absentee voting is ongoing at the Pierz School District Office weekdays from 7:30am-4:00pm.

--The Morrison County Sheriff's Office reported Friday that the young child injured in a lawnmower accident outside Little Falls was 3 years old, not 2 as first reported. The child sustained a severe leg injury and was being treated at a hospital in the metro area.

--The Little Falls School Board meets at 5pm today at the Morrison County Government Center Boardroom. Agenda items include membership for the State High School League for 2017-18, Region 5 Development Commission Representative reappointment, approve the NJPA Innovative funding grant application, health insurance renewal, and authorizing the district to contact an evironmental consulting firm to conduct health and safety services and run down the list of 2017 Day of Caring Donations.

--Crow Wing County Sheriff Todd Dahl reports a two vehicle personal injury crash took place on Wise Road near The Church on Wise Road Thursday just after noon. 32-year-old Jennifer Amundson of Brainerd was on Wise Road when she struck a vehicle heading east driven by a 74-year old female driver whose name was not released. Amundson was treated and released at the scene. The other driver suffered serious injuries and was transported from the scene by ambulance. The name of the female driver is not being released to allow time for family members to be notified.

--An Eden Valley man was hurt after a crash in Benton County Thursday afternoon. The incident happened at about 1:45pm on Highway 23, near 65th Avenue Northeast, in Maywood Township. The Minnesota State Patrol says 28-year old Kayla Jenderseck, of Sartell, was heading east on Highway 23, when she drove into the median, over corrected and went into the ditch. Jenderseck was not hurt. Her passenger, 28-year old Christopher Madigan, suffered non-life threatening injuries.

--Stearns County received a report of a motorcycle accident on County Road 159 near 156th Street in Avon Township just before midnight Friday morning. The driver of the motorcycle was identified as 30-year old Ryan Justin Willard of St. Cloud. When deputies arrived, they found a motorcycle tipped over in the roadway. Willard was found lying in the bottom of the ditch. Willard was traveling eastbound on County Road 159 when he struck a deer traveling across the roadway. Willard was unable to avoid the deer collision and was thrown off his motorcycle. Willard was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. Willard was transported to the St. Cloud Hospital with unknown injuries.

–Sauk Rapids Police Chief Perry Beise says they received a tip about a black Ford Fusion with similar damage to the vehicle that was hit Saturday at the intersection of Benton Drive and 1st Street South. Officers determined the vehicle was the one involved in the crash.
31-year-old Christopher Eagle was arrested and taken to the Benton County Jail on charges of leaving the scene of an accident.

--Motorists will encounter a detour and delays on Highway 27/Broadway Avenue in Little Falls while the road this week is closed at the BNSF railroad crossing, just west of the Mississippi River. The road is scheduled to open by 8:00pm on Thursday, May 18th. A detour will direct motorists along Paul Larson Memorial Drive, 9th Avenue Northwest and Lindbergh Drive. The closure is needed while crews repair the railroad crossing.

--Three new cases of measles have been confirmed in Crow Wing County. The three cases are linked to one earlier confirmed May 4th where the child was exposed to the virus from a Hennepin County Health Facility. Department of Heatlh recommends that those exposed to the virus and are unvaccinated stay home from school, work and any gatherings for 21 days, the incubation period for the virus. The 4 cases in Crow Wing County along with 50 cases in Hennepin, Ramsey and Dakota Counties have been reported since April for the outbreak. No other counties have confirmed cases.

--A Zimmerman man died Thursday when the vehicle he was driving collided with another head on. 22-year old Tim Morgan was southbound on Sherburne County Road 19 near the intersection of County Road 38 in Baldwin Township shortly before 11:00pm when his car struck a Jeep driven by 30-year old Jenna Benson of Princeton. Morgan died at the scene. Benson and her 2-year old daughter were taken to a hospital with non life threatening injuries. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

--Congratulations to Morrison County Sheriff's Office Administrative Support Supervisor Mary Swenson, who received an Excellence in Service Award Thursday night. The award was presented by Professional Law Enforcement Assistants Association (PLEAA).

--Governor Mark Dayton has ordered all flags at state and federal buildings in Minnesota today to be flown at half-staff in honor and remembrance of Peace Officers who have been killed or injured in the line of duty. May 15th is Peace Officers Memorial Day started in 1962.

--The Little Falls City Council meets tonight 7:30 at City Hall.

TWINS= Miguel Sano homered Friday and Ervin Santana did the rest as Twins win 1-0 over Cleveland. Twins win 4-1 Saturday to keep 1st place in Central. Cleveland takes Sunday's game 8-3 over Twins. Twins have today off, host Colorado tomorrow.
