NEWS
--The Morrison County Sheriff's Office last week Tuesday arrested a 27-year old on an outstanding warrant on 16th Street Northeast after a call of suspicious activity. Deputies during the arrest also noticed a controlled substance, counterfeit currency and a fake driver's license. Also last Monday the sheriff's office arrested four people in connection with the theft of equipment from the 11000 block of Harness Road in Little Falls. The item was recovered. A 20, 22, 27 and 31 year old were all arrested. Formal charges in both cases are pending. The sheriff's office and Little Falls Police also responded to reports of a burglary of a rifle and gun case in Hillman last Tuesday, a possible burglary April 25th on Lindbergh Drive South, and a crash on April 24th where the vehicle went off Riverwood Drive and landed in the Mississippi River. No injuries were reported. The police department also responded to a number of suspicious activity and domestic dispute reports.

--A 20-year-old Baxter man was arrested recently after a drug bust in Baxter and made his first court appearance on Wednesday. Adam Heisick was charged with three felonies of drug sales and control substance crimes. A search warrant found marked currency used in the bust by Lakes Area Drug Investigative Division, items that tested positive for methamphetamine, Xanex pills, small amounts of marijuana and other items in the making or selling of illegal drugs.

--A driver was injured in a Baxter parking lot Wednesday. 58-year-old Scott Chamberlain of Baxter was in the parking lot just after noon when he collided with 19-year old Jacob Swendsrud of Staples. Chamberlain had head, neck and leg pain and was taken to the hospital in Brainerd for treatment.

--One person was hurt Friday around 12:20pm on Stearns County Road 16 in Zion Township. 23-year old Matthew Spanier of Belgrade was north of Paynesville when he ran into a parked fertilizer sprayer with a trailer on the south side of the road. Spanier sustained injuries that required him to be airlifted to St. Cloud Hospital for treatment.

--The St. Cloud Police Department has scheduled a community notification meeting about two Level 3 predatory offenders who are expected to move to St. Cloud. Duane Lloyd Swanson is moving to the 200 block of 11th Avenue North on May 10th. Nathaniel Lee Betzler will be moving to the 100 block of 16th Avenue North on May 17th. Both have served their sentences. Swanson has a history of sexual contact with boys ages 12-14 and Betzler has a history of sexual contact with females 16 and older. The two men are not connected to each other, but police are scheduling a single meeting because the men happen to be moving to St. Cloud within one week of each other. The meeting will be at 6:00pm on Monday, May 15th at the St. Cloud Police Department in Training Room C. Representatives from the police department and the Minnesota Department of Corrections will provide information.

--The former treasurer of a girls' basketball association has been charged with five counts of felony theft by swindle. 51-year old Kimberly Ritzer of Avon is accused of using her role as the treasurer for the Albany Girls Basketball Association to access funds and use money for personal expenses. Ritzer is accused of taking just over $8,258 for her own personal use since 2014. Ritzer is scheduled to appear in court on June 23rd.

--The Morrison County Commissioners meet Tuesday at 9:00am at the government center boardroom. They will give a proclomation to Social Services on Vulnerable Adult Awarness, variance applications to Morrison County Public Works, hear from Sun Country Alliance, Hands of Hope, public health and land services at the meeting Tuesday.

--A big road construction project in Benton County will force drivers to detour up to 10 miles from their normal route. The Highway 25 resurfacing project is getting underway today south of Highway 23 in Foley. The road will be closed between Glen Street and Highway 95. There will be a signed detour via Highway 23 and Highway 95 which will add up to 10 miles to your trip. A second phase of construction will begin in late June will work on all lanes of Highway 25 south of Highway 23. That project will resurface all lanes of Highway 25 north of Highway 23 up to Genola.

--Crosby police subdued a 23-year old man Wednesday after an altercation at a Crosby pizza place. Kennedy Reed faces eight charges from the incident including child neglect from where Reed is accused of chasing an ex-girlfriend and preventing her from calling 911. When police tried to arrest Reed, he first complied then attempted to reach for one of the officer's weapons where then Reed was tased. The child neglect came from a 10-month old baby who was left unattended at an apartment during the time of the incident in Crosby.

SPORTS
TWINS= Joe Mauer hit first walk-off homerun of his career Friday night as the Twins beat Boston 4-3 in walk off fashion. Boston routs the Twins Saturday 11-1. Red Sox ends up routing Twins Sunday after scoring 10 in the 9th to win 17-6 and take the three game series. Twins have a day off today and are at White Sox tomorrow night.
LF= The Little Falls Acitivites Banquet is tonight at 6:30pm at the Falls Ballroom in Little Falls.
PIERZ= Pierz held their High School Awards banquet last Wednesday. Congratulations to Athletes of the Year Kacy Broschofsky and Lane Girtz. Letter Club Athletes of the Year were Brett Kapsner and Kacy Broschofsky. Congratulations to all the award and scholarship winners. Pierz schools will also be having their choir concert tonight at 7:30pm at the PAC.
DERBY= Always Dreaming wins the Kentucky Derby Saturday at Churchill Downs. The Preakness is on May 20th.
