NEWS
–The Pierz Pioneers were crowned the Prep Bowl Class 3A champions Saturday after a 36-8 win over Jackson County Central. Pierz got behind early but stormed back with 29 unaswered points. Saturdays win marks the second time Pierz has won the championship, the last time in 2004. Noah Boser was named player of the game for having three touchdowns. Congratualtions to all the coaches, players, fans and parents on a great season.

–An 81-year-old St. Cloud man was injured around 6:30pm Thursday evening when his vehicle left the highway and struck a tree in Morrison County. Arlynn Anderson was driving a pickup north on U.S. Highway 10 near Motley when he fell asleep, crossed into oncoming lanes and crashed into a tree. Anderson was taken to Lakewood Health System in Staples with non life threatening injuries.

–30-year old Jeremy Gene Olsen of Cushing, was charged November 2nd as a fugitive from justice, wanted for a felony in Virginia. On March 23rd, 2012, a warrant was issued by Westmoreland County Circuit Court in Virginia for Olsen, who allegedly violated his felony probation. Original charges against Olsen were felonies for causing bodily injury, grand larceny, statutory burglary and destruction of property. He was located in Morrison County on Halloween and arrested, taken to the Morrison County Jail. If found guilty as a fugitive, Olsen will be extradited to Virginia.

–A fire reported Friday destroyed a home in Le Sauk Township. Firefighters from Sartell and St. Cloud were on the scene at 32247 County Road 1, south of Heim’s Mill, where a two-and-a-half-story wood frame house was engulfed in flames around 4:30pm. Though the home had not been resided in years, it was reported that the home is owned by Walter Ronald Johnson of St. Cloud. The cause of the fire is unknown, and the house was not receiving gas or electricity. The Stearns County Sheriff’s Department had received trespass complaints at the property in the past weeks which are a factor in the sheriff’s investigation. No injuries were reported.

–A St. Joseph man has been sentenced in a hit-and-run crash that killed a 5-year-old boy last April. 32-year-old Jeremy Ulik had earlier pleaded guilty to one felony count of failing to stop at a collision causing injury or death. He was sentenced in Stearns County District Court to 60 days in jail, four years probation, and must pay restitution to the family. A criminal complaint says Ulik told police he knew he hit 5-year-old Cody Nuckolls with his vehicle, but believed the child was OK because he saw him standing as he drove away. The boy was struck by a vehicle on April 13th as his mother waited across the street for his sister to get off a school bus. Nuckolls was declared dead at the hospital. Police used video from the school bus to find the vehicle. Ulik has no prior criminal record and if he abides by the provisions in his probation will have the conviction reduced to a misdemeanor after the four year probationary period.

–The state of Minnesota will offer free entry to all 76 state parks and recreation areas on the day after Thanksgiving (known as Black Friday). A daily permit to a park generally costs $5. Lieutentant Governor Tina Smith says the state is trying to promote the outdoors and family time on a day dominated by trips to malls and shopping centers as retailers are also making preparations for the biggest shopping day of the year. Many shops open Thanksgiving night or will be open on Thanksgiving to catch the early rush. For more info on state parks in your area check out the DNR website.

–The 39th Annual IMC Concert is tonight and tomorrow at the Charles D. Martin Auditorium in Little Falls at 7:00pm. Purchase tickets at the door starting at 6:30pm. $6 for adults or $3 for students for this musical extranvaganza. Questions call 616-2262.

–Give to the Max day on Thursday raised over $18-million dollars for non-profits, schools and other organizations in Minnesota.

–The average price of Thanksgiving turkey has jumped as much as 20% this year, thanks in some part ot the Avian flu outbreak that killed some 8 million turkeys. You won’t have to reach deep into your pocket to foot the stuffing bill as most of the items for the Thanksgiving meal had an increase of less than 1 percent. The U.S. Department of Agriculture projected average wholesale price for the Eastern market whole turkey of $1.31 and $1.37 per pound for the final quarter, up from $1.14 in the same period a year ago. It was also reported that pumpkin supplies are expected to last through Thanksgiving despite a 50% drop in yields in Illinois attributed to record rains. There’s good news for Thanksgiving travelers too as gas prices have fallen by nearly 30% from last year.

–Bruce Dayton, the father of Minnesota’s governor and a key figure in building his family’s company into the retailing business that became Target Corporation died on Friday. Dayton was 97.

–Lakes Jam in Brainerd announced that their headliner for 2016 will be country music superstar Toby Keith. Lakes Jam is June 23-25th.

INTERNATIONAL NEWS
–Nearly 150 are dead and hundreds more injured after gunmen and bombers attacked restaurants, a concert hall and a sports stadium in Paris, France on Friday. The French President Francois Hollande called it an unprecendented terrorist attack. France then attacked ISIS in Syria on Sunday.

SPORTS
HS FB= Prep Bowl 2015 wrapped up Saturday with champions being Grand Meadow in 9-man, Caledonia in Class AA, Becker won the 4A title 35-14 over South St. Paul and Osseo took the 6A title Friday. Saturday action had Minneota winning in Class A, Pierz wins the Class 3A title 36-8 over Jackson County Central.
COL FB= The undefeated Iowa Hawkeyes beat the Gophers Saturday 40-35. The Gophers are now 4-6 and need to win their final two games to be bowl eligible. Minnesota hosts Illinois Saturday.
NFL= Adrian Peterson ran for over 200 yards and a touchdown as the Vikings defeated Oakland 30-14 on Sunday. The 7-2 Vikings are now in first place in the NFC North after Detroit for the time since 1991 beat Green Bay in Green Bay Sunday 18-16. The Packers fall to 6-3 and will take on the Vikings this Sunday at TCF Bank Stadium. Carolina and New England remain undefeated with wins on Sunday.
