--Storm reports from Wednesday morning from the sheriff's office stated there were large trees down across 8th Street and 1st Avenue Northeast, tree on a powerline on ground on Lindbergh Drive South which caused a large power outage. Report of a powerline down on 5th Street Northwest and 6th Avenue. Reports of a powerline down on 3rd Avenue Northeast at 2nd and 3rd Street. Trees down on Great River Road and Hilton Road and more powerlines down across 15th Avenue.

--The Little Falls Fire Department responded to a call to Ace Hardware Wednesday morning of an odor of burned electric, firefighters could not find the source. Store personnel were told to have an electrician check things out. Little Falls Firefighters were called out Tuesday night because of the power lines down around the city from storms.

--At 11:16am Tuesday the Morrison County Sheriff's Office received a report of a two-vehicle accident on Nature Road, near 290th Avenue, west of Morrill in Buckman Township. According to the Sheriff’s Office, 51-year-old Travis Winscher of Royalton was backing his vehicle into a driveway on Nature Road. A vehicle driven by 37-year-old Nathaniel Schanche of Milaca was eastbound on Nature Road near 290th Avenue when he encountered Winscher’s vehicle in the roadway and hit the driver’s side of the vehicle, causing Winscher’s vehicle to go into the ditch. Winscher was transported by ambulance to the St. Cloud Hospital with unknown injuries. The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Pierz Fire Department, Pierz Police Department, MLMB Response Team, Mayo Ambulance and the State Patrol.

--On Tuesday Crow Wing County Deputies attempted to arrest an individual with outstanding felony warrants at 7018 Hilltop View Road near South Long Lake. The subject of the arrest warrant, 42 year old Michael Payne of Brainerd, fled from the residence on foot. With assistance of the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office Drone Team, Members of the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office Tactical Response Team and a Morrison County Sheriff’s Office K9 unit, located Payne near the water’s edge of South Long Lake. Payne was taken into custody without incident and later transported to the Crow Wing County Jail. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, Brainerd Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol, Morrison County Sheriff’s Office, Brainerd Fire Department and North Ambulance all assisted.

--A federal grand jury returned an indictment against a Ramsey man for an armed carjacking and possession of a gun as a felon. According to court documents, on June 4th 31-year-old Joshua Olson armed with a Glock 19 9mm handgun, used force, violence, and intimidation to steal a 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan from the vehicle’s owner. Olson has multiple prior felony convictions in Cass, Crow Wing, and Aitkin Counties and is therefore prohibited from having guns or ammunition at any time. Olson is charged with one count of carjacking, one count of possessing a firearm as a felon, and one count of brandishing a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence. He made his initial court appearance on Monday.

--Depending upon which district you live in, voters will cast a ballot Tuesday in the primary, to choose who will be in the November General Election race. Morrison County races include State Senate for Districts 5 and 10; state representatives for Districts 5B, 10A and 10B. Residents across the state will also vote for governor and lieutenant governor; secretary of state and attorney general. The candidate with the highest number of votes moves to the November General Election. Residents in the following cities and townships will vote by mail: Bowlus city, Buckman city, Buckman Township, Culdrum Township, Elmdale city, Flensburg city, Genola city, Harding city, Hillman city, Hillman Township, Lastrup city, Leigh Township, Motley Township, Mount Morris Township, Parker Township, Pierz Township, Platte Township, Richardson Township, Rosing Township, Sobieski city and Swanville city. Polling places for residents who do not vote by mail and the hours they will be open from 7am-8pm for these townships at Agram Town Hall, Belle Prairie Town Hall, Bellevue Town Hall for Bellevue Township, Buh Town Hall, Cushing Town Hall, Darling Town Hall, Elmdale Town Hall, Granite Town Hall, Green Prairie Town Hall, Lakin Town Hall, Little Falls Town Hall, Morrill Town Hall in Ramey, Motley City Hall (for city of Motley), Pierz City Hall (for city of Pierz), Pike Creek Town Hall for Pike Creek Township, Pulaski Town Hall, Randall Community Building for city of Randall, Ripley Town Hall, Royalton City Center (for city of Royalton), Scandia Valley Town Hall, Swan River Town Hall, Swanville Fire Hall (for Swanville Township), Bowlus Fire Hall (for Two Rivers Township) and Upsala Rec Building (for city of Upsala). Little Falls city Ward 1 the Initiative Foundation, Ward 2 is Little Falls City Hall and Ward 3 is Bethel Lutheran Church.

--Another filing Wednesday in the city of Little Falls yesterday as James Storlie filed for Little Falls City Council Ward 3.

--A motorcyclist was injured Monday after their motorcycle struck a black bear on County Highway 34 in Cass County. Pillager Area Fire and Rescue responded to the crash, reported at 1:53pm north of Pillager. The person on the motorcycle suffered significant road rash, scrapes, bruises and a broken wrist. The name was got given. The victim was not wearing a helmet and was transported by North Memorial Health Ambulance to Lakewood Health System hospital in Staples. The black bear died of its injuries.
