NEWS
--Morrison County Sheriff Shawn Larsen reports that the investigation into the death of Terrence “Terry” Brisk which occurred November 7th is now considered a homicide investigation. Investigators are also now seeking the public’s help in locating a gun believed to have been stolen during the incident. Preliminary autopsy results from Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office concluded that Terrence Brisk died from blood loss resulting from a gunshot wound. The Sheriff’s Office, with help from the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, has followed up on several leads and conducted multiple interviews. The determination of homicide as a manner of death is based on information obtained thus far in the investigation. In addition, the Morrison County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a Winchester Model AE 30-30 lever action rifle belonging to Terrence Brisk. The rifle is described as an older model, with a wooden stock and forearm, with no sling attached. Terrence Brisk was known to carry the rifle in the woods while hunting and at this point the gun has not been located. Sheriff Larsen states that there is a $20,000 reward for information that leads to the identification of the person who shot and killed Terrence Brisk. --The Morrison County Veterans Service Office will be hosting a meeting on December 15th at 10:00am and and also at 6:00pm at the Morrison County Government Center, Board Room next to the Veterans Service Office. The intent of this meeting is to discuss upcoming events for veterans during the months of January – April. They are trying to gather feedback on the needs and interests of our veterans in the community. They will also be open to discussion and questions regarding Veterans benefits. --The Brainerd Lakes Area Community Foundation (BLACF) announced that their annual Brainerd Lakes Area Grant round is accepting applications. The Brainerd Lakes Area Community Foundation seeks to make two kinds of grants: Smaller grants for general operations and programs that address changing community needs, and significant grants that will be the “Difference Maker” in bringing about a lasting, positive change in the Brainerd Lakes area. Applications must address one or more of the following focus areas: work force development, education, human services, arts and culture, and civic. Organizations applying for a grant must be nonprofit, charitable organizations designated as 501(c)3 by the Internal Revenue Service and must serve the residents of Crow Wing or Southern Cass counties. Additional information can be found at communitygiving.org/grants. Applications must be submitted online by midnight on February 1st. Potential applicants are strongly encouraged to contact Karl Samp at ksamp@communitygiving.org to see about programmatic fit with current BLACF priorities.

--Around 4:35pm Monday Two people were hurt when the truck they were in lost control and rolled into the ditch off Highway 210 near Staples in Cass County. The driver, 48-year old David P. Rondo and his passenger 49-year old Bridgit R. Lewis both of Staples were taken to Lakewood Health System in Staples for non-life-threatening injuries. The state patrol said icy roads played a factor in the crash.

--Around 6:00pm Tuesday Crow Wing County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a vehicle crash that injured three on County Road 44, approximately ¼ mile east of County Road 45 in Brainerd. The three individuals who had been struck were trying to pull a vehicle from the ditch at the time of the crash. The pickup involved in the crash was traveling eastbound on County Road 44, went out of control, and collided with an SUV that was parked on County Road 44 being used to pull the vehicle from the ditch. The truck then entered the south ditch, and struck the three victims and the vehicle in the ditch. 34-year old Joshua Backstrom of Brainerd appeared to have been pinched between the truck and the vehicle in the ditch and was taken to Essentia Hospital for injuries to his legs. Both 16-year old Brittney Lynn Case, of Brainerd and 15-year old Noah John Underberg of Pillager were taken to Essentia Hospital for a possible head injuries. The roads were iced over and extremely slippery at the time.

--District 9B State Representative Ron Kresha will be in studio for today's Up Front program from 9:00-10:00am on AM960 KLTF. Kresha will discuss numerous topics including being elected as WHIP. Kresha is also expected to discuss the state budget surplus and take calls from listeners during the program.
