On Tuesday there were Township elections. These are the ones received at Little Falls Radio.
Agram- Tom Leidenfrost-Supervisor and Galen Stumpf-Treasurer replacing Leon Leidenfrost who retired after 46 years as treasurer.
Belle Prairie- Francis "Babe" Brisk-Supervisor; Shirley Waytashek-Treasurer.
Culdrum- Mark Kedrowski-Supervisor.
Cushing- Dan Symanietz Supervisor; Janice Stavish Treasurer.
Green Prairie- Wayne Stoner-Supervisor; Mary Hoover-Treasurer.
Leigh- Larry Hebler Supervisor, with no votes for treasurer the board appointed Mel Buesseler back as Treasurer.
Little Falls- George Sandy-Supervisor; Joann Sowada-Treasurer.
Minden- Pam Benoit Supervisor; Mark Ebnet-second supervisor; and Lois Heigl was elected Treasurer.
Parker- Ron Wimmer was elected supervisor defeating Dean Robinson 22 to 12 votes. Lynette Miller elected Treasurer
Pierz- voted 9 for and 3 against on a resolution to make clerk and treasurer position appointed and not elected. It passed 9-3.
Pike Creek- Ron Hourscht-Supervisor; Lisa Turner-Treasurer.
Platte- Ricky Hebler Supervisor; Debbie Swaser-Treasurer; and special thanks to Judy Boser who retired after 27 years.
Ripley- Curt Plante- Supervisor; Patty Branchaud-Treasurer
Swan River- Paul Fussy elected Supervisor. Jim Krottoschinsky elected treasurer, 50 votes to 36 votes over Nathan Rudolph.

OTHER NEWS
--Brainerd firefighters battled a structure fire Tuesday on White Pine Drive. The fire was discovered in the subfloor of a home and quickly extinguished. No other details released.

--Crow Wing County has announced their candidates for Dairy Princess and ambassador for the upcoming contest and banquet in Pierz on April 1st. This year candidates for Junior Dairy Princess are 15-year old Arica Caughey Freshman at Brainerd High School and 14-year-old Jenna Caughey an 8th Grader at Forestview Middle School. Candidates for dairy ambassadors are 13-year old Alexis Schroer, a 7th Grader at Forestview Middle School, and 13-year-old Allison Struffert also a 7th Grader at Forestview Middle School. Tickets are $12 for the event and must be purchased by March 25th by calling 218-828-1998. The Morrison County Dairy Princess Coronation is March 25th at the Falls Ballroom, there are 8 candidates vying for Dairy Princess in Morrison County and they are expected to speak on KLTF Party Line Tuesday morning at 10:00am.

--After video footage from the Lakes Bee March 2nd in Staples, it was announced this week that the National Joint Powers Alliance has named Forestview Middle School 8th Grader Meryl Tigenoah and Staples-Motley 8th-Grader Rose Han co-champions of the Regional Spelling Bee. Both will be sponsored by the NJPA in Washington D.C. May 28th for the National Spelling Bee. After reviewing footage it was announced that the rules for the local spelling bee final rounds were not properly followed. Therefore, the best scenario was to make both the finalists co-champions and advance on to nationals.

--A Pierz man was arrested after an alleged assault and attempting to flee officers in a high speed chase Tuesday. Around 4:15pm the Morrison County Sheriff’s Office reported a vehicle stopped behind a deputy’s squad car while the deputy was conducting an investigation on an unrelated matter near the intersection of 183rd Street and 255th Avenue, north of Pierz. The driver reported they had been assaulted earlier that day by the person sitting in the front passenger seat. According to Morrison County Sheriff Shawn Larsen, as the deputies were talking to the suspect 26-year old Derick Miner of Pierz in the passenger seat and instructing him to step out, Miner moved into the driver’s seat and fled in the vehicle. A pursuit ensued, traveling through Lastrup and ending on 203rd Street east of 225th Avenue in Buh Township. The pursuit went on for approximately 10 miles reaching speeds near 90mph. The lead squad car in the pursuit eventually performed a Pursuit Intervention Technique which stopped the Miner's vehicle. Derrick Miner was arrested and is being held at the Morrison County Jail awaiting formal charges.

--The Little Falls Community School Bands wish to thank those who attended the 39th annual massed band concert back on Monday. The event raised close to 1,000 pounds of food donated to the local area food shelf. Ticket prices were reduced for attendees who donated to the food shelf. 983 pounds of food were donated as a direct result of the Massed Band Concert/food drive earlier this week.

--Teams from Sauk Rapids-Rice and Elk River high schools repeated first place honors in the management competition and culinary competition respectively at the 11th annual Minnesota ProStart Invitational. The event, held March 9th at Sysco Minnesota in Mounds View, showcased the cooking talents and business skills of high school students enrolled in the ProStart program at their schools. Both teams now advance to the National ProStart Invitational April 28-30 in Charleston, South Carolina.

HOK= The Big 10 Hockey Tournament begins today with two quarter-final games- the winners play #2 Wisconsin and top seed Minnesota Friday. Gophers play 6:30 Friday on AM960 KLTF.
GBB= State Girls Basketball Tournament semi-finals start today.
