NEWS
--Around 9:10pm Tuesday the Morrison County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a two vehicle accident with injuries at the intersection of 183rd Street and 255th Avenue in Buh Township, northwest of Pierz. 15-year old Caleb Meyer of Pierz was driving a car north on 255th Avenue when he went through the stop sign at the intersection and struck a car driven by 16-year-old Elizabeth Dickmann of Pierz that was traveling westbound on 183rd Street. Dickmann and her 13-year-old passenger, Jazmine Dickmann, were injured, taken to an hospital where both were treated and released.

--One person was injured in a two-vehicle accident west of Pierz on Tuesday shortly after 12:30pm. 73-year-old John Host of Browerville was west on Highway 27 turning into a driveway when he was rear-ended by 19-year-old Nicholas Kisling of Royalton. Neither driver was hurt. Host's passenger 68-year-old Margaret Host of Browerville sustained minor injuries.

--On Tuesday night Morrison and Todd County Veterans Service Offices hosted a Vietnam Commemoration Pinning Ceremony. The event was held at the Swanville High School. There were over 300 people in attendance. 141 Vietnam veterans were welcomed home, provided a commemoration pin and certificate. From the Morrison County Veterans Service Office Kathy Marshik wanted to thank all those who attended, helped with the event in a variety of ways and especially those who were honored for serving in the Vietnam era.

--Authorities are investigating a possible arson fire in Todd County. The Sheriff’s Office says the call came in at about 7:00pm on Monday for a trailer house fire near Osakis. The owner says the house was used for storage and was not hooked up to electricity. If anyone has any information they’re asked to call the Todd County Sheriff’s Office.

--A Baxter woman was injured in a two-vehicle accident Tuesday around 10:45am on Highway 210 and Inglewood Drive in Baxter. 61-year-old Jane Schuldheisz of Baxter was south on Inglewood and collided with 43-year-old Kelly Hughes of Pillager at the intersection with Highway 210. Hughes was not hurt. Schuldheisz was taken to the hospital and treated for her injuries.

--Crow Wing County deputies responded to an accident Monday night around 10:00pm on County Road 19 in Merrifield where the vehicle ran off the road and struck a tree. The Sheriff's Office said a juvenile female was driving and taken to the hospital with injuries. Her passenger was not injured. No names were released.

--Pequot Lakes emergency personnal reported a one-vehicle crash with injuries Saturday night around 8:45pm. Crow Wing County along with police stated that one person was taken to the hospital with injuries from the accident on Forest Knolls Road in Pequot Lakes.

--Brainerd firefighters had to rescue an unresponsive patient on Saturday around 5:45pm on Miller Hill Trail area in Oak Lawn Townhip near Brainerd. Firefighters found the unresponsive patient and helped bring them out of the woods and to the nearby hospital.

--Cass County authorities had to rescue two duck hunters on Leech Lake after their boat capsized southeast of Battle Point Tuesday. Deputies were called around 6:20am to the lake after using cellphone mapping technology to locate the hunters who had fallen into the water while hunting and stayed on top of their capsized boat until being located. Both hunters were wearing floatable type coats. The two hunters were checked out by authorities but not hospitalized.

--A former St. Cloud man was sentenced Tuesday to 17 years in prison for attempted murder, a sentence that will run at the same time as a 13-year sentence for sex trafficking. Neither of those sentences will start to run until 21-year old Jonathon Duane Taylor Hanson's three-year sentence is over for being the driver of a vehicle used in a drive-by shooting. Hanson previously pleaded guilty to sex trafficking and first-degree attempted murder. A shooting December 12th, 2014 in the parking lot of a Waite Park motel led to prostitution-related charges against Hanson and another man. Hanson was accused of firing as many as 16 shots at a man with whom he had been arguing. During that investigation, officers went to the room at the motel where Hanson had been staying and encountered a 16-year-old girl who was a runaway. She told investigators that she had been working as a prostitute for Hanson and 21-year old Alex Trent Hazelrigg. Hanson already is in prison after being sentenced in January 2015 for being the driver of a vehicle in a drive-by shooting July 19th, 2014 in St. Cloud where one man was shot but survived.

--The Governor's Deer Hunting Opener in Breezy Point north of the Brainerd Lakes area kicks off today at noon with a Youth Expo for students, outdoor expos with demonstrations, a skills competition for air rilfe shooting and a Camp Banquet. Friday events including media day for many to come and interview those participating and touring the area then on Saturday a half hour before sunrise the hunting season opener begins.

--Two people were hurt in a crash in Wright County Tuesday afternoon. The state patrol says the crash happened on Interstate 94 shortly before 4:45pm when 18-year-old Sydney Burns of Monticello was driving eastbound on Interstate 94 from Fenning Avenue in Monticello, when she drove onto the shoulder, overcorrected, hit a concrete wall and spun into the median. Sydney was not hurt in the crash. Her two passengers 49-year-old Patricia Burns of St. Michael and 55-year-old David Burns of St. Michael were taken to the Monticello Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

WS= The Chicago Cubs are World Series Champions for the first time since 1908 with a 8-7 win in 10 innings in game 7 last night.
NFL= Vikings offensive coordinator Norv Turner has resigned. Head Coach Mike Zimmer stated Turner stepped down due to personal reasons and was not a team decision. Pat Shurmur has been named the interim offensive coordinator, effective immediately. The Vikings host Detroit Sunday at noon. The Vikings have lost 2 straight games.
