NEWS
--Little Falls will host their National Night Out event tonight at the Little Falls Fire Hall from 4:30-7pm. Most National Night Out events were last week but Little Falls has their's a week later in order to get a Life Link Helicopter for the event. Meet police, firefighters and emergency personnel, view demonstrations, vehicles, enjoy food and more tonight at the fire hall in Little Falls beginning at 4:30pm.

--As featured on a Twin Cities News Station Sunday Sandy Abeler, at age 89 just completed a half-mile swim across Morrison County’s Cedar Lake. The past five years Sandy has swam the width of Cedar Lake near Upsala to raise money for scholarships at Camp Lebanon, where Sandy has been a fixture for five decades. To date, she has collected pledges of more than $28,000, enough to send nearly 300 kids to camp. Several of Sandy’s kids and grandkids joined her during the swim, as dozens of campers cheered on Sandy from shore. The swim took the 89-year-old about half an hour.

--Essentia Health to build a new clinic in Pierz meeting patient needs by bringing more services close to home. Nearly 30 years to the day St. Joseph's Medical Center purchased the Pierz Medical Clinic from Dr. Fortier; physicians, staff and community leaders picked up golden shovels and donned helmets to break ground for a new Essentia Health St. Joseph’s-Pierz Clinic, which will open in June 2017. The new clinic will be double the size of the current 2,100-square-foot clinic and will expand to seven exam rooms and a procedure room. Services will also grow to include additional primary care, specialty care and rehabilitation services. The new clinic will be located a few blocks south of the current clinic along Minnesota Highway 25. Construction will begin this fall.

--An 86-year-old from St. Cloud on an ATV was injured Saturday around 2:45pm when he collided with a vehicle in Stearns County attempting to cross Highway 15 from Stearns County Road 141. Robert Winter was taken to the hospital after striking his head on the pavement from the impact of the accident. The driver of the SUV, 47-year-old Thomas Swenson of St. Cloud was not injured.

--A Louisiana man was injured in an two-vehicle accident Saturday around 7:30pm on Highway 23 in Benton County. 24-year-old Charles Coutee was on 14th Avenue when he collided with a westbound vehicle at Highway 23 driven by 58-year-old Stanley Eisenbacher of Litchfield. Coutee had non life threatening injuries. The other driver, Eisenbacher was not hurt.

--A 28-year-old Crosby man was injured Sunday afternoon in an two-vehicle accident on Highway 371 and Nashway Avenue in Crow Wing County. Garrick Hammond was on a motorcycle was on 371 and turned into the oncoming lane and collided with 68-year-old Marilyn Swift of Lakeshore. Swift was not hurt. Hammond was taken to the hospital and treated for his injuries.

--One person was hurt Sunday afternoon in a two-vehicle accident in Stearns County. Around noon 25-year-old Joseph Guenther of Maple Grove was on Interstate 94 when he rear-ended a vehicle driven by 58-year-old Rickey Robinson of Detroit, Michigan. Neither driver were was hurt. A passenger in the Guenther vehicle, 22-year-old Lauranna Hoffman of Maple Grove suffered injuries that were not serious.

--The Morrison County Fair begins Thursday and runs through Sunday get more details at fallsradio.com and click on the fair logo. Also the Todd and Mille Lacs County Fairs begin Thursday.

--On Monday, one person filed for Little Falls City Council that was Raquel Lundberg in Ward 1 the southeast portion of Little Falls.

--Today is Primary Election day in Minnesota. Some major races including the District 6 Representative for the Republicans will have a primary today as three are vying for incumbent Tom Emmer's seat. Emmer being one of them. Though no major elections today in Morrison County have a primary you are welcome to vote the party of candidates on one side of the ballot. Most of the areas filing for city, school board and township seats continue through 5pm August 16th. The General Election for all races will be on November 8th.

--A St. Cloud man was arrested Saturday afternoon shortly after 2:00pm when a woman told police she was threatened near Southside St. Cloud park by a man claiming to have two guns. The man was arrested after he ran from police and entered a stranger's apartment to hide from police. Police recovered two loaded guns during their investigation. A 17-year-old female told police that 20-year old Tyree Dupree Neal had verbally threatened her and that Neal said he was in possession of two guns. Neal was taken to Stearns County Jail, where he was booked for investigation of first-degree burglary, fifth-degree assault, obstructing legal process, fleeing on foot and 2 counts of carrying a firearm without a permit.

--More than 3,300 4-year-olds will attend preschool this upcoming school year as part of Minnesota's new, state-funded preschool program. Governor Mark Dayton and his top education official announced 74 school districts and charter schools received funding to offer preschool. The state passed a scaled-back preschool program this year that targets impoverished school districts without existing early education options. Some of the schools include Onamia, Isle, Park Rapids, Nevis, Willmar and the entire St. Cloud School Distrct.

--Repair work to railroad tracks near the prison in St. Cloud will close Minnesota Highway 301 on Thursday. The road, which runs alongside the south wall of the prison, will be closed at U.S. Highway 10 from 7:00am to 6:00pm. The Minnesota Department of Transportation is urging drivers to use alternate routes. There will be detour signs along Sherburne County Road 8 and 15th Avenue Southeast.

TWINS= Twins win 3-1 over Houston Monday night. The Twins and Houston have game 2 tonight 6:30pm on WYRQ.
OLY= U.S. Women's Basketball rolls 103-63 over Spain and for the second time in 2 days 11 of 12 players scoring in the game. U.S. Men also win again Monday beating Venezuela 113-69 in basketball.
