NEWS
--A Bemidji woman was injured Sunday morning in a one-vehicle accident on Highway 10 south of Little Falls. 74-year old Anne Sliney was south on 10 just south of the Highway 27 off ramp when she struck the median and ended up in the north ditch. Sliney was taken to the hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

--Three people were killed in a head on crash Saturday evening on Highway 71 east of Redwood Falls. Authorities say a motorist was passing another vehicle and hit a minivan coming the other way, leaving both drivers and a 1-year old boy dead. The crash happened around 5:00pm Saturday on Highway 71 in Morton, of Redwood County. Killed in the accident were drivers 41-year old Teresa Linde of Redwood Falls, 34-year old Shaunna Kraft of Lakefield and 1-year-old Brexlee Thammalong, who was in Kraft's car. According to the patrol, Kraft was heading north on Highway 71, started passing another vehicle and crashed into Linde's southbound van. Kraft had two other passengers in the car who suffered life threatening injuries. They were 27-year old Khampong Thammalong of Lakefield, and 7-year old Ryler L. Ybarra. Neither driver, nor the 7-year-old were wearing a seat belt. It was unknown if the child who died was restrained. The state patrol is investigating the crash.

--These are good times for Minnesota. Unemployment is low. The state’s credit rating is high. The average median household income is above average. That all adds up to Minnesota being the best run state in the nation, according to a study by the website 24/7 Wall Street. Minnesota beat out Utah for the top spot in the annual survey, which uses economic indicators, budget allocations and balance sheets along with a range of social measures to rank how well each state is run. Ranking third through fifth were Iowa, Oregon and Washington. North Dakota, which had a five-year streak as the best-run state, fell to seventh, hurt by falling oil prices. Louisiana, New Mexico, Mississippi, Alabama and Pennsylvania were ranked as the five worst run states by the study.

--Police arrested a 25-year old St. Cloud man this weekend for an alleged sexual assault that occurred 3½ years ago. Christopher Micheal Kapol was arrested and jailed Saturday and charged Monday with third degree criminal sexual contact. The alleged crime took place in April 2014.

--A Melrose man was hurt when the pickup he was riding in left the road and rolled Monday morning. The Minnesota State Patrol says the driver, 20-year old Mauricio Perez was westbound on Interstate 94 near Melrose when he went off the road at around 6:30am entered the ditch and rolled. Perez wasn't hurt but his passenger, 21-year old Norberto Munoz-Martinez, was taken to the hospital in Sauk Centre.

--The Morrison County Commissioners meet today at 9:00am in the government center boardroom. Agenda items include a cost report from Social Services, grade change to nurses from Public Health, AIS prevention plan from Land Services, a Veterans Service Officer update, discuss and vote on a comprehensive plan for 2018 and also decide on a number organizational items for the year 2018.

--A $1-million dollar Powerball ticket was sold at Casey's on Haven Road in east Little Falls. This is only the 4th time this year a one million dollar ticket was sold in Minnesota. The person has yet to come forward so check your tickets and if you have the winning ticket turn it in at the lottery office.

--A suspect has been charged with second degree unintentional murder in a fatal Waite Park shooting. 20-year old Desmond Ormandy Barzey was charged Monday with shooting a 19-year old man on Saturday. He awaits extradition from North Dakota, where he was arrested Sunday after a high-speed chase. The victim was Bobby Tercel Williams, a St. Cloud resident. Police stated Barzey and Williams were acquaintances and there is no ongoing threat to the public. Barzey is being charged with one count of second degree murder without intent, five counts of firearm assault in the second degree, and one count of possessing a dangerous weapon. The maximum sentence for second degree murder without intent is 40 years in prison. The maximum sentence for each firearm assault is seven years in prison and $14,000.

NATIONAL NEWS
--NYPD makes arrest in terror attack near Times Square transit hub The man, Akayed Ullah, 27, was taken into custody and rushed to a hospital with burns and other injuries. Subway lines were evacuated and dozens of emergency vehicles swarmed the area near New York's Times Square on Monday after a terrorism-related explosion triggered chaos near a busy transit hub. Four people, including the suspect, were injured in the blast, authorities said. None of the injuries was considered life-threatening.

SPORTS
MLB=Former Minnesota Twin Jack Morris has been elected to the baseball Hall of Fame. The three-time 20-game winner was chosen Sunday by a 16-man panel that considered candidates from the sport's modern era. Morris posted 254 wins. The right-hander's most famous victory was a 10-inning shutout, winning 1-0 for Minnesota over Atlanta in Game 7 of the 1991 World Series. He surpassed 200 innings in 11 seasons, and pitched 175 complete games; the most of any pitcher who started playing after 1976. Morris was chosen along with his teammate from the Detroit Tigers, Alan Trammell, a six-time All-Star and four-time Gold Glover at shortstop. Morris and Trammell teamed to help the Tigers win the 1984 World Series.
