NEWS
--A Minnesota soldier will represent our National Guard at the Army’s 2017 Best Warrior Competition. Staff Sergeant Daniel Sebo of Savage won the National Guard Best Warrior Competition at Camp Ripley last week. Sebo was one of 14 soldiers taking part in the four day contest which ended Thursday. Sgt. Grant Reimers of Nevada won the enlisted portion of the competition which featured events designed to provide the maximum amount of challenge to the soldiers participating. These included a weapons qualification, physical fitness test, and ended with a road march around Lake Itasca in full gear. The “All-Army” competition will be in October. This was the first time Camp Ripley hosted the Guard’s competition. Both Sebo and Reimers appeared last Friday on the KLTF Party Line program talking about their time at Camp Ripley from the this past week for competition.

--Six people were injured in a four vehicle crash on Saturday morning. The Minnesota State Patrol says the crash happened just after 10:00am in Haven Township on Highway 10 near 15th Avenue Southeast. Authorities say a pick-up towing a boat driven by 39-year old Casey Hagensick of Monona, IA, was traveling north on Highway 10 when he rear ended an SUV driven by 57-year old Beth Kedrowski of Little Falls. The SUV then rear ended a car driven by 22-year old Sefiyat Kehinde Busari from St. Cloud. Busari’s car than hit another pickup driven by 18-year old Zachary Tuma. Hagensick and his three passengers, 4-year old Allison Hagensick, 8-year old Cameron Hagensick and 37-year old Laurel Hagensick were taken to St. Cloud Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Tuma was uninjured in the accident, but his passenger, 11-year old Karlie Hagensick was taken to St. Cloud Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Busari was also taken to St. Cloud Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Kedrowski was not injured in the crash.

--A 39-year old woman went to St. Cloud Hospital after being injured in an Interstate Highway 94 crash near Stearns County Road 143 on Sunday. Heather Novak was one of four passengers in a Honda Pilot that rear ended a Mazda on the highway Sunday around 4:30pm. Novak's injuries were non-life threatening. No one else was injured in the crash, including the driver 39-year old Brandon Novak and three children: 2-year old Maikol Novak, 7-year old Luciana Novak and 13-year old Sebastian Novak, all from St. Joseph. 26-year old Joseph Mack of Long Prairie and his with passenger 23-year old Theresa Carlstedt of St. Cloud were not injured.

--One person was hurt Friday around 2:30 in Melrose of Stearns County. Dawn Koennicke of Fergus Falls was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Robert Duncan of Fergus Falls that veered into the median and crashed. Koennicke was treated at the Melrose Hospital.

--A Willmar man won’t face any additional jail time for choking a St. Cloud taxi driver back in March. 23-year old Zachary DeGraw pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count of 5th degree assault back in May. He was charged with assault motivated by bias, and another assault charge but those were dismissed as part of a plea agreement. A Benton County judge sentenced him Thursday to 90 days in jail with credit for the six days already served.

--The Morrison County Commissioners next meeting is this morning in the Morrison County Government Center Boardroom at 9:00am.

--29-year old John Greenwaldt has not been seen since July 4th, and the Brainerd Police Department and others are worried about his welfare. Greenwaldt has blue eyes and brown hair. He is 5 foot 10 inches tall and weighs 180 pounds. He has "John" tattooed across his knuckles and tattoos along his arms and neck, including a frog on the right side of his neck. Greenwaldt was last seen getting into an unknown vehicle on July 4th. Contact 911 or the Brainerd Police with any tips on Greenwaldt's whereabouts: (218) 829-2805.

--Cass County identified the two women who died last Thursday in a house fire near Longville. 86-year old Alice Moe of Longville and 48-year old Toni Mix of Remer were found inside the home and according to the medical examiner died from smoke inhalation. The State Fire Marshal continues to investigate the cause of the fire which started around 12:30am. The house was a total loss.

--Investigators from the state's arm of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) will look into an incident at the Sherco power plant last week that injured three Xcel Energy employees. As a rule, OSHA investigates workplace fatalities and catastrophes, which are defined as accidents that hospitalize three or more employees. Last Wednesday three Xcel employees were taken to Hennepin County Medical Center, after sustaining injuries on the job. The three employees were working near a breaker that failed, causing their injuries. They were wearing protective equipment at the time of the incident. The purpose of the investigation is to avoid similar accidents in the future. Once the case is wrapped up it will be open to the public, along with any potential citations.

WNBA= Lynx return to action vs. New York tonight at 7pm
REGION= The Region 8C Tournament is Saturday in Pierz. The Games are as followed- Lastrup vs. Sobieski at 11am, Upsala vs. Buckman at 1:30pm, Nisswa at Avon at 5pm and the nightcap is St. Stephen at Ft Ripley at 8pm. All games live on AM960 KLTF. Winners and losers on Saturday play again on Sunday.
