NEWS
–The Little Falls Fire Department Friday night responded to a fire at the Rustic Saloon at 112 1st Street SE in Little Falls. It was an electrical fire on a neon sign on the wall. There was some damage sustained to the wall. The building was evacuated before authorities arrived. The Little Falls Fire Department ventillated the smoke inside the building and damage was contained mainly to the one area. There were no injuries. Firefighters were on scene for about an hour.

–Around 1:45pm on Sunday the Morrison County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a motorcycle accident with injuries on Partridge Road near 113th Street in Hillman Township, southeast of Genola. According to the Sheriff’s Office, 41-year old Deanna Kampa of Rice was traveling south on Partridge Road when she lost control of her Harley Davidson motorcycle in the curve near 113th Street. Kampa was thrown from her motorcycle and she was later transported to St. Gabriel’s Hospital by ambulance with unknown injuries.

–On Friday a jury convicted Ashley Hunter of murder and arson in the deaths of two people in Fargo, including a Sartell native. The Fargo man was charged in the hammer beating death of 24-year old Sam Traut and in the stabbing death of 45-year old Clarence Flowers in 2015. Authorities alleged that Hunter killed Flowers in a drug dispute. They say he killed the Sartell graduate Traut, who he didn’t know, early the next day due to drug-fueled paranoia. Hunter also was charged with arson for allegedly trying to burn down the apartment where Traut lived.

–A St. Cloud house sustained heavy water damage after a fire was caused by an improperly disposed cigarette Friday night. The St. Cloud Fire Department were called to Cory Lane in northwest St. Cloud around 6:15pm. The department was able to extinguish the fire in the attic, but the house suffered heavy water damage. The owners were not home at the time and no one was injured in the fire. A dog in the home was rescued by a passer by. The department determined a cigarette not disposed of properly caused the fire.

–Multiple fire departments responded to a fire at the Brainerd Industrial Center on Mill Avenue in northeast Brainerd. The BIC is the former Potlatch/Wausau paper mill. Heavy black smoke was seen from the building owned by Nisswa Sanitation. Crews found a garbage truck on fire which had spread into the walls of the building. No one was in the building at the time. The cause is under investigation but does not seem to be suspicious. The damage estimate is around 1-million dollars from the blaze Friday night.

–Two people were injured Friday afternoon around 12:30pm on Highways 18 and 25 east of Brainerd. 35-year old Derek Smith of Garrison struck a vehicle driven by 83-year old James Ware of Aitkin at the intersection. Both men sustained non life threatening injuries.

–A motorcyclist was injured around 4:00pm Saturday near Milaca. 47-year old Michelle Banks of Otsego was on Highway 169 at 23 in Milaca when she drifted out of her lane and struck the median, causing her to be thrown from her cycle. Banks was not wearing a helmet and sustained injuries that required her to be airlifted to North Memorial in Robbinsdale.

–The Minnesota State Patrol reported this past weekend was the deadliest in the past 5 months as four people were killed and dozens injured from accidents Friday through Sunday. The fatal crashes occurred in Marshall, Northfield, Eden Prairie and Duluth.

–An 8-year-old was injured in a crash involving a semi-truck Monday morning. 31-year old Ryan Edward Rybaczuk of Avon was driving the semi eastbound on U.S. Highway 10 through New York Mills when the vehicle went off onto the shoulder. In an attempt to change course, the semi trailer slid into the ditch and caused the vehicle to roll over. Rybaczuk was uninjured in the crash. His passenger, 8-year old Collin Michael Rybaczuk, of Avon, sustained what is believed to be non life threatening injuries and was not transported to a hospital.

–Two accidents in Aitkin Saturday that sent two people to the hospital happened just minutes part. Two trucks collided around 4:25pm Saturday that sent one person to the hospital. It was reported that 66-year old Robert Peters of Dalbo was injured. He was a passenger in one of the vehicles. Neither driver was hurt. The second accident happened about 15 minutes later on Highway 18. 29-year old Thomas Noerhing of Lakeville struck a vehicle with his motorcycle. He was taken to the Aitkin Hospital for treatment. No others in the accident were injured.

–The 2017 Morrison County Breakfast on the Farm is this Saturday from 7:30-11:30am at the Roerview Dairy Farm near Upsala. Parking will be available at Upsala High School and buses will transport visitors to the farm location owned by the Roerick family. In 2015, Roerview Dairy transitioned to a robotic milking system, which in turn provides greater cow comfort. At the event, tours will be given on the robotic milking system. Various educational stations will be set up throughout the barn. An education station will be set up at the calf barn, where people may learn more about the calves. Besides a breakfast of pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs and ice cream from the Upsala Lions for a free will offering, Dairy Princesses will be on hand and several children’s activities available on the farm site. HS BAB= Foley defeated Pierz 9-1 last night in baseball playoffs. Foley advances to section finals Thursday. Pierz will have to win tonight against either Milaca or Sauk Centre who play at 5:00pm in St. Cloud. Pierz then gets the winner in the 2nd game tonight at St. Cloud around 7:00pm on FM94 KFML.
HS BAB= Little Falls vs. Sartell at noon today on AM960 KLTF .If Little Falls wins they would play Bemidji later this afternoon- both games would be at St. John’s University and on AM960 KLTF.
TWINS= after Monday off the Twins (29-24) travel to Seattle for a series with the Mariners. Pregame 8:30 tonight on Q92 WYRQ.
