NEWS
–Today is Election Day but because this is a odd numbered year there are very little elections today. Some city and school boards are having elections today while most of the area elections will be bond referendums and school reform bills to be voted on. These include referendums in Swanville, St. Cloud, Long Prairie-Grey Eagle, and Bertha-Hewitt. The polls in Swanville are open 12-8 at the school lobby. The polls for the LPGE district will be open from 10:00am-8:00pm at both the Long Prairie Grey Eagle multi purpose gym and Grey Eagle city hall. Info on the Long Prairie-Grey Eagle Operating Levy. The additional revenue from the increase will be used to maintain current programs, restore funding levels in some areas, and possibly enhance academic programming. It is critical to note that this is general education funding and can be used for any purpose of the school district. If the levy is not approved, there will have to be budget reductions, as the school district must balance the budget. Even if the levy is approved, school taxes will decrease due to the bonds on the high school being paid off for the LPGE district.

Authorities in their area have received no other reports of any tampering with candy or immediate concerns or dangers. Because of the protective and sensitive nature of investigations involving juveniles, police will not be releasing any additional information about this case.
